Life

Good Morning Everyone!
Since my last post life got a little sad and busy around here.
On the 5th my Sister in Law passed away suddenly at the age of 47. Her husband (my brother in law) took this very hard. We helped him through the funeral and now we are helping him clean out of the house they had shared. She had become a Hoarder in the last few years. We have spent the last 2 days cleaning and going through all the stuff, and we are still not done. I am taking the day off to get caught up with stuff around here. The real sad part is that her daughter is due to have a baby in the next month or so.
Life keeps moving on!

Before this all started I did get some stitching done and a piece started.

Well I am up to 11 baby calves so I better get dressed and go out and feed them.

Loving the fall weather!

Good Morning Everyone!
This past week has been very busy, lots of stuff going on.
Did everyone have a nice Halloween? Here on the farm we don't get Trick or Treaters, but the grandkids always come out to show us their costumes, here are a few pictures.

She told everyone that she was a glitter witch.
They got lots of candy and treats and had a great time.

Saturday they had a Vendor/Craft Show in our small home town and this is my awesome purchase.

Is this not the cutest birdhouse ever I just love it.
I have it right out side my dining room window.

I finally got the thread that I ordered so that I can finish up the freebie that I showed you on my last post called Witch. I will post a picture when its completed.

I did work on We Three King and here is an update as of Oct 30, 2013

I did put this one away for a while so I could work on some other things

First of all I seen this on Pinterest and I just happen to have some bandana's on hand so I gave it a try. Now I just need to find some material to use for backing and it will be used as a lap quilt. Cute idea don't you think, and it was so easy!

Then I started another freebie I found.
Angel
Designer unknown but it came from aliolka.blogspot.
I am using 40ct Wisteria and I am using DMC Silk 5200 and Silk 800
I started it on 30 Oct, 2013.

Well that's about it for updates today. Now I am just waiting for the mail man to get here with my new phone. The one that I am using is having some issues with the speakers and I'm not always able to answer it. So I hope this new one works better.

Have a great week!!!

Updates to show!

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!
Boy time has pass by fast, it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post.
I have not done anything exciting lately but I do have some updates to show.

I am still working on We Three Kings
as of  10/14/13
these are more of the true colors
as of 10/26/13
Lighting was not the greatest

While at the weekend retreat I worked on this next piece called June's Sweet Cake
I added the beads to stand and realizes that the gray and silver
part of the stand was one stitch off so I had to remove and
restitch the gray. Now I just have to chart my granddaughters
name  and stitch it  and this will be done.
The last piece that I worked on is a Freebie from Pinterest
called Witch
I used GAST Soot for this piece, got this much done and ran out of thread. I ordered more and I'm hoping the dye lots aren't too drastic. The top part is going to say Witch.

Well that's about it for now, It 's time to go get ready to go to work for a couple of hours and then its home to sit and stitch.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Back from Lake Shetek

Good Morning Everyone!
I have not read any blogs since last Wednesday so I have a lot of reading ahead of me!
Last Wednesday I left for Lake Shetek for a stitching retreat, and got back home on Sunday about noon.
I didn't take very many pictures but my daughter did with her new camera.
But I did get a bunch of stitching done
First up is We Three Kings
Got a good start on the second King.

This was my finish for the weekend
Merry Christmas by Glory Bee - Nancy Boyarsky
Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament 2013
Mystery fabric from stash
called for DMC Floss
Started 10-09-2013
Finished 10-10-2013

The last piece that I stitched on was started last year for my Crazy January Challenge 2012.
June's Sweet Cake
Erica Michaels - Rainbow Gallery
32 ct cream Belfast Linen
Hi-lights, Splendor & Subtlety, & Mill Hill Beads
Started 1-13-12 (CJC 2012)
I am making a few changes on this piece. To start with there is suppose to be nine candles, I only have five because this piece will be for my granddaughters 5th birthday. And across the bottom is suppose to say How Many? but I will be putting she name there.

I also worked on a table runner. I got the blocks cut out and some of it sewed together. I did not get a picture of it yet but as soon as I complete it I will post about it.

Well its time to get back to the laundry and house cleaning. Then it to town to pick up some groceries.

Have a Great Week!

Finished some Finished Stitching

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

My DH let me sleep in this morning, he made coffee and out the door he went and I am not sure where he was off too. Sleeping in to me is 7:00 am but is still feels good getting an extra hour of sleep. I couldn't sleep to late because I have chores out side to do. At the moment I have only one little baby calf to feed and my chickens to take care of but they need me to take care of them.

On Thursday rather than stitch I decided to finish up some finished stitching, So here are a few pictures.
First up is something I stitched a very long time ago and has been sitting in finish box with a whole lot of other finished pieces.

I did this piece so long ago that I don't remember who the designer is or what material and floss I used. but for some reason I think it came all kitted up. Oh well its framed and hanging in my kitchen.

Next up was:

This was a traveling pattern that I participated in  I finished stitching it in Sept 2012.

I do not know what this piece is called. The pattern came out of the back of one of Monica Ferris's books that I read, and I am not sure which one it was. The Second picture is of the back of the pin keep.

Welcome October by Brenda Gervais
This piece I just finished at the beginning of Sept 2013.

And the last piece I worked on was Happy Fall
I am still working on this one, the green ric rak is not glue down yet and I need to find some buttons or something for the corners. Still a work in progress.

Yesterday and this morning I have been working on We Three Kings again.
Here is what it looks like as of this morning.
One King almost done except for the beads, they will be put on when all the cross stitching is done.

Ok I think this blog post is just about long enough and hope you all enjoyed all the pictures and that I didn't bore you too much.

A fall finish

Good Morning Everyone!
Yesterday morning I finished another small piece. I actually started it on Monday evening. Right before heading to bed I realized that I had just stitched 144 stitches in the wrong color. Thought about leaving it and fudging it but in the end I frogged all my work and restarted this piece on Tuesday morning, and finished it up on Wednesday morning before I went to work at noon.
I plan to finish this piece into a pinkeep for my fall basket.

This was a quick and easy piece to stitch up.
You can find this freebie HERE
I had originally found it on pinterest.

My DH saw me working on this and his statement to me was "at least its not a Christmas ornament and fits the season and that its to early for Christmas stuff." my responds was I stitch Christmas stuff all year round. Silly Man!!!

Yesterday morning my oldest daughter and granddaughter came over to have coffee with me. Jill works a job with rotating shifts and  she had just got done working a 7pm- 7am shift. She had to stay awake until she took her daughter to preschool. So we talked for a while then I went in the other room to do some laundry and this is what I came back too.
Jill had fallen asleep and Sharlee was watching The Wizard of Oz. So I let her sleep until it was time to get Sharlee ready for school. I would hate to have her work schedule.

I think rather than stitching this morning I am going to head up stairs and finish up some pin keeps and Christmas ornaments, so I may have another post on the way today or tomorrow.

Well that's about it for me today.

One more WIP is finished!!!!

Good afternoon everyone!
Oh this is perfect weather we are having! I wish it was like this year round.

This morning before I left for the dentist I finished Beneath The Sunlit Sky. This was purchased in 2007 from a small shop that closed up many moons ago. I remember she had one on display and that is what caught my eye.
Beneath the Sunlit Sky
by Blackbird Design
I am not sure what the fabric is but I am going to guess it the called for 28 ct Sea Fog by R&R Reproductions
and I used the called for GA floss
Started sometime in 2007
Finished 9/23/2013

Well there you go - 3 finishes in one months time and I still have a week to go.
Not sure what I will work on next. I am thinking about doing a fall freebie that I found on pinterest or I might work on We Three Kings. I will see what I feel like this evening.

The second weekend in October my oldest daughter, niece and I will be going to Lake Shetek for a stitching retreat with about 35 other ladies. It will be fun to spend time together with everyone.

Well that's about all for today

A small Christmas finish

Good Morning Everyone!
We just had a thunderstorm roll though, lasted about 10 minutes and we got an inch of rain and stuff blown all over the place. Some places got hail but we miss it! Thank goodness!!!!

Last week I was thinking about Christmas ornaments and realize I had not stitched any for a long time. So I grabbed my new Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament 2013 and found 8 ornaments that I would like to do. The first one I did was 2013 Santa.
I was going to show you my progress a couple of days ago but never got around to it.

 2012 Santa
Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments 2013
by Charlette's Collectibles - Charlette Dockens
14 ct  Preforated Plastic
Called for DMC Floss
Started - 9/13/13
Finished - 9/18/13

Has anyone else done any ornaments out of this Christmas Issue yet?

Here is an updated picture of Beneath the Sunlit Sky that I have been working on.
I have removed the 2007  and will be replacing it with 2013.

On Friday my DH got a new toy to play with this fall.

If you didn't know - this is a Combine which he uses to take the corn and beans out of the fields. We have always had one but it was much smaller so he figured it was time to upgrade. He is one happy guy!

And on Saturday I went and watched my grandson play football. He is only in the fifth grade but it was fun watching him any way. He plays center.

Well that is about all for today!

My Work In Progress (WIP)

Good Evening Everyone!
I planned on doing this post Friday morning but my DD1 texted me that she and my granddaughter were coming over in the morning so I wouldn't be able to play on the computer like I do most mornings :(

After I finished Welcome October I dug around and found another WIP from my Crazy January Challenge 2012 that I need to work on. (actually there are 6 that are not completed) Well the one that caught my eye was .........
The Best Things by Waxing Moon Designs
I started it on Jan 4, 2012 and put 347 stitches in it. It has not seen the light of day since I took it out Sept. 3, 2013. I worked on it Tuesday and Wednesday and this is what it looks like now.
The border and half of the mauve heart was done on the 4th of January the rest I completed on Tue & Wed.  Then this morning I am up digging around my sewing room looking for my fall decorations that I completed last year. But alas I got distracted and started looking at patterns, kits and other stuff when I came across an old WIP.
Beneath the Sunlit Sky by Blackbird Designs
The wording on this says
The Sea appears all golden
Beneath the Sunlit Sky
I put my DH and my initials in the upper corners and as you can see I stitched 2007 in the lower part. I have not decided if I am going the remove it and replace it with 2013 or not. What do you think? Should I or not? Please let me know what you think.
I work on it for a little while today and got about 300 stitches done so this is how it looks now
And I think this will be my next finish!
Well its almost 11:00 pm so I better get my butt to bed!
(no it is 11:00 pm now)

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Finished Welcome October

Good Morning Everyone!
Another beautiful morning here in South Dakota! It is actually a little chilly at 52 degrees but I still have all my windows open and airing my house out. Love this fall like weather!
Yesterday I sat on my bum all day long and did nothing but stitch! I had the house to my self and loved it, my DH even order pizza for supper so I didn't even have to cook. Ya Me!!!!.
I completed about 800 stitches yesterday and here is a picture of my finish

Update on the Stitching Front

Good Morning Everyone!
Can you believe its the last day of August already? I keep thinking that things will start to slow down and I can get something useful accomplished but it never happens.
Last week we spent time at Prairie Village ( a long weekend event that has old tractors, trains, buildings that you can go through and there is free entertainment, there are tractor pulls, and horse drawn plows. I think you get the picture) This is the highlight of our summer and the kids always look forward to it. We camp there all week long, some of us in campers and some in tents. Its a great time! This year I was not in the picture taking mood so what few pictures I did take I have not downloaded yet.

We have a little bit of a  break in the weather today. This morning was in the 60's so the air is off and the windows are all open and we are enjoying some farm fresh air. I love the fall air! Today my DH is out chopping Silage with some neighbors glad its not so hot out there for them.

I have a finish to share with everyone !

This is  Blooming with Inspiration
by Belinda Karls-Nace
Blue Ribbon Designs
I used 40 ct Wisteria hand dyed fabric from Lakeside Linens
and the called for Weeks Dye Works floss.
I started this as part of the Crazy January Challenge 2012
January 10, 2012 to be exact.
Finished it August 30, 2013
I really like the bright colors in this piece! And now to get it framed and hung up!

Now that I am done with this piece I was digging around looking for something to catch my eye to work on next and this is what I found.
Welcome October 2009 by
Brenda Gervais - With thy Needle & Thread
I started this piece on Oct 24, 2011, It doesn't feel like that long ago that I worked on it. I will have this piece done to display this October for sure. It was a freebie that Brenda had on her blog and you see it HERE and print a copy for your self.
Well that's about it for this post, I need to get ready to go to work for a couple of hours then it's a cookout at my daughters this evening. Should be fun and some great food!

Have a great weekend everyone

A little of this and a little of that????

Good Morning Blogland!

I have to tell you that I am loving this weather we are having! It gets up to about 80 degrees during the day and drops down to the low 60's in the evenings - great sleeping weather. We could use a good shot of rain! Every time we get a chance of rain it misses us.

After finishing Abigail's birth sampler I decided to start something new.
This is Snowy Morn by Shepherds Bush
I am using the 32 ct Dirty linen an Au Ver a Soie Silk threads that came with this kit.
The 4 days that I worked on it I have completed 1030 stitches on it. It is so fun stitching with this silk thread. I  keep looking over at my pile of  WIP's , and think I should be working on some of them.
Guilt got to me and I grabbed We Three Kings and started working on it and now I can't put it down. I stayed up the other night until 4 in the morning working on it. ( I did try to go to bed but couldn't sleep)
Here is my progress so far on it.
If you want to see what it looked like the last time I updated about this piece you can go HERE. I have stitched 3 days on this piece and have put in 1077 stitches in.
I don't think that We Three Kings will be completed this year but maybe next year for sure. There is a lot of Kreinik that is used as well as Mill Hill Beads. The one good thing is that there is very little backstitching! I totally love all the beautiful colors in this project.
This is my box of DMC, Kreinik, & Beads for We Three Kings.

Well the dishes, the laundry, the floors, and of course the stitching is calling my name so until next time

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
