Travelling Pattern - Jolly Jack, Baby Shower, & A Wedding

Well I am ready to sent Jolly Jack on to his new home. I put the 6 names in a hat and my DH pick one out for me. So that part is done but I got NO pictures to show of this happening because my DD#1 has my camera until this week end. So no pictures of my finish of Jolly Jack either until this weekend.

Oh I suppose you want to know who the winners;

SoCal Debbie

Email me your snail mail and I will get this in the mail right away.

On Friday after I did my last post I went out and check out mail and guess what was waiting for me?
My package from Cathy at Crafty Cat. She had a giveaway beacuse she had reached 100 followers. Here are a few shot I took of them when I open the package up.
Every thing came neatly tucked into this
Zippered project bag. (Can't have too many of these)

Charts and the little sheep is a tape measurer

and look at this seclection on goodies
scissors, tweezers, threads, a light, needles and more.
Thank you so much Cathy, this was such a great giveaway

I had a very busy weekend and I'm still tring to get things caught back up.

Saturday was a long day! At 10:00 I attended a Baby Shower for my Great Niece

Abigail Darlene

In my last post I showed the baby photo frame that I made her. But I want to show you some pictures from the shower because, well you will see, the pictures speak for them selves

These 6 babies are 2nd cousins and all born with in the last
7 months
My niece Chrissy & Abigail are second on the left
My niece Courtney & Amaya are second on the right
My nephew's wife Nikki & Cruz are on the end right

There is a 7th second cousin that was born 2 days before this picture was taken.

Oldest to youngest
So after the shower was over I went home for a couple of hours and did some stitching. Then I get ready for a wedding that my son was a groomsmen in and I took the wedding pictures for the happy couple. I am not a professional by any means but I do enjoy playing with the camera at happy events.
Here are a couple of shot I will share with you.
Heath & Vanessa
The Wedding party fun shot

My son TJ and his girlfriend Heidi ( who was also in the
wedding - she is the grooms sister)
Ok I think that is enough for one post!
I will be back with my pictures of Jolly Jack as soon as my camera gets back home.
In the mean time enjoy you week and
Happy Stitching

Travelling Pattern Jolly Jack Has Arrived

Good morning everyone and a big welcome to my new followers. Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my blog.

Back at the beginning of August, Devon over at Devon's Quiet Corner decided to do a travelling pattern with Jolly Jack (HERE). She wanted to see how many Jolly friends we could stitch before October 31. She sent it off to Amanda over at Sampler, Silks & Linens. You can see her finished Jolly Jack (HERE). She picked my name to send it to next and I recieved it on Wednesday. Last night after I got home from my grandson's 3rd & 4th grade football game I got started on it.
Here is my start

Jolly Jacks
by Bonnie Sullivan of All through the Night
32 ct jobelan lambswool
called for WDW
Started - 9/20/2012
So I am hopeing to complete this pattern this week end and would like to get it sent to the next luck jolly friend at the begining of next week. If you are interested in this pattern please leave me a comment on this post  and on Monday the 24th or Tuesday the 25th I will ramdomly pick its next new home. But the deal is you have to stitch it up quickly and sent it on its way.

I did not start Jolly Jack on Wednesday when I got because I had to finish my baby photo frame for my great niece, they are having a baby shower for her this weekend. So I need to make sure it was finished first. And here it is.

I have an 8 by 10 frame that this will fit into and that is a real picture of my great niece before they left the hospital after she was born.

I am going to leave you with a couple of random pictures of my grandkids and my furry friends.

3 year old Sharlee cheering for her

# 70 Gavin  he is a 3rd grader

# 35 Treyton is a 4th grader

TUSAL

Good Morning fellow Bloggers!
And Welcome new followers, I love that you stop by to see what I have been up too.
Its a nice cool morning here in SD. And I am enjoying having my windows open and letting some fresh farm air in and hearing the sounds of the chickens.

Yesterday was TUSAL and I was busy with my husband (its harvest time here) so here is my picture of my orts for this month and a vase with all my orts from previous months.

I have made some progress on the baby photo frame that I have been working on. I really need to buckle down and get it done because I need to give it to my great niece this coming weekend.
So here is an update picture as of this morning
I have all the cross stitching done now & I am working on the backstitching. Then there is just a couple of little rattles to complete and this will be a finish for me.

The last thing that I have to tell you is that Cathy over at Crafty Cat  (she has a picture if you would like to see) had a 100 follower giveaway and my name was drawn as the winner! There is a lot of great stash in the prize. Thank you so much Cathy! One of the charts that I won is Happy Everything and I have been wanting to get this chart for some time. This is my 3rd giveaway win for me in the last couple of months so I won't be entering any giveaways for a while so that I can give others a chance to win some cool stash. But do check out Cathys site! It really great!

Well my morning is just about shot so I better get off the computer and get something accomplished.
Have a great week everyone
Happy Stitching

Good morning fellow bloggers,
and I see I have a few new followers
Thank you for stopping by and seeing whats going on in my world.

Every week day morning I get up and I have a normal routine of
brushing my teeth
make the coffee
pack a lunch for DH
(he leaves the house @ 6:20am)
then I sit down with my cup of coffee and turn the computer on
check emails
check facebook
check pinterest
check obits
then its time to read my blogs
And then its time to go out side and get the farm chores done.
So do most of you have a routine or do you mix up your routine?

For the past week I have been planning on posting an update
but I kept putting it off. (it has been almost 2 weeks since I last posted)
And I don't even have an excuse, because I have not gone any where or done anything exciting.
I have some stitching done but not as much as I would have liked
So here is what I have done since my last update.
on my last update I had the top portion
done and now have the panda complete
and now working on the wagon.

as of Sept 8, 2012

Season Winter - freebie off of Pinterest
started - 9-8-12
finished 9-10-12
28ct platinum cashel linen by Zweigart
DMC Floss
I went back on pinterest to find more details of who designed this but was unable to locate it. I actually think it is a Biscornu pattern. You can barely see the white snowflake in the center, I couldn't get it to show up in the pictures that I took. I am not sure how I will be finishing it yet, I have to give that some thought.

Well I think that about all for today.
I am leaving you with a picture of two of our grandkids rubbing grandpa sore feet.
They hate this job but grandpa usually
bribes them with a treat.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!
Happy Stitching

Back from a Camping Trip

I need too get caught up on everything that has been going on since I last posted on the 17th.
First thing is I won a giveaway from Barbara over at To Stitch or Not To Stitch. Her give away  was to celebrate 500 followers. It came in the mail the day I left on my camping trip so I finally got a picture to show you all the great stash I got.
Barbara - to stitch or not to stitch
500 follower giveaway
Thank you Barbara for all the great stash!

I not only won Barbara's giveaway I also won a second giveaway  from
LaDonna at Branch Needlework.
She notified me on Tuesday the 21st that I had won. And I sent her an email back with my snail mail address, so as soon as that comes in I will get a picture and show you what I got.

As for what else I have been up too is our annual family camping trip to Historic Prairie Village.
They have a lot of old time stuff there, like old buildings, machinery, old steam engines, lots of old tractors, a huge flee market. Speaking of flee markets I was walking around looking at all the stuff and guess what I came across. Yep someone was selling cross stitch material and kits. I picked out a bunch of fabric and 3 patterns. As I was checking out I was talking to the lady and she said her mother use to stitch alot but was in a bad car accident and was unable to do it anymore. I spent just about 50 dollars on the stuff I bought and after I got it home saw the store tags were on most of it and added it up and it was actually worth about $150.00. that was quite a saving for me.
Here's what I got:
7 pieces of 28ct jobelan in different colors
1 white 25 ct Lugana
1 Ivory 2ct Salem coth
1 Ivory 22ct Damask Hardanger
1 Lavender & lace Pattern (Angel of the Sea)
1 Stormy Night (pattern)
1 towel kit with Pansy pattern
2 heart shaped dolies
Lots of Stash for a little bit of money - I like that!

I stitched one afternoon while we were camping so I don't have any stitching to show just yet.
This morning I had a doctor appointment and this afternoon I spent cleaning out the camper and doing more laundry. Hopefully I can sit and stitch for a while tomorrow. I really need to get a baby gift done before I can work on anything else.

Well until next time
Happy Stitching

Stash, TUSAL, Progress

OOOOOH how I love new stash!!!!
Today I got a package from 123 Stitch
(love ordering from them)
(just ordered it a couple of days ago)
Any way here is what I got
4 pieces of fabric and pretty floss
and these are to fill 5 kits

The first kit is Pointetta House by LHN

Violet's by Country Cottage

2 Threadwork Primitives

And last is City Stitcher & Country Stitcher by LHN

And so now when ever I get notion to start something new I have some already kitted up and ready to go. Oh my goodness I have so many started now that need tending too.

 TUSAL for August
Lots of light colors because I am working
baby stuff

And lastly a picture of my husband holding my great niece, Amaya. They are watching TV while I was making supper last night. Amaya's Mom was working and her grandma ususally watches her but Grandma Darla had to make a trip to Iowa to welcome her new granddaughter into the world.

My niece Chrissy & her husband had a beautiful baby girl yesterday morning. Her name is
Abigail Darlene.
I got a picture of her in a text message but not sure how to get here on my blog. Oh well just know she is a cutie and I can't wait to meet her in person.

Hopefully I will have stitching picture the next time I post.

Cleaning the Sewing room

Yesterday I was cleaning the sewing room up, you know putting the piles of stuff away that I had laying around and all the thread organized and in its proper place. I came across a tote I had not seen for a while and started going through it and this is what I found.
Filled with Love by
The Creative Circle
This was the very first counted cross stitch piece that I ever did.
I know I was stitching it in Oct of 1984 because that is when my son was born. I use to sell Creative Circle and did many of there pieces. I still have the orginal pattern for this piece and decided to restitch it using WDW colors.
not sure when I started stitching it the second time,
2 or 3 years ago I think.

The next stitching I found was from around 1999 - 2000.
Do you remember the Millennium?
Well these are the Millennium Cats, I finished January thru October.

January

October
Aren't they cute little kittys, not sure why I didn't finish them

Next up is
This is called Cow/Calf
don't know the designer
This one may go in the trash because it looks like it was a kit and the thread is no longer with it. Unless I feel like being creative and  picking my own colors for it.????
I am sure I was doing this towel with Holsteins on it because my DH & I have raised baby holsteins for over 25 years.

The rest of what I am going to show you I do not know when I started them. I never kept track back then.

  • Flowers and Lace by Dimensions

Got a long ways to go on this one!

1693 Family Sampler
also by The Creative Circle

Praying Hands
Looks like its almost done, I need to find
directions for it

This one I was doing for my daughter (Jill)
I wonder if she will still want it?

I Love Country Bow Ties

The stitching is all done but misplaced
the center piece that makes it into
a Bow Tie
Do you suppose it will come back into style again.
The sad part is I know that I have more projects that are started and at various stages of completion that are tucked away in that sewing room.

I hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane.

Have a great week end with some

And life moves on!

Life has a way of ruling our lives and this past week has been a long one for me. My last post was on a Saturday (7/28/12) and on Sunday we started moving our middle daughter home from Iowa. It was a hard thing for her to do but she knows in the long run it's for the best. It breaks a mothers heart to see there child's heart hurting from a break up, but time will heal her.
Friday night some friends of ours came over and we were sitting in our new shop talking and having a few beers when this big bad storm roll through, the clouds were very dark and lightning everywhere. but the best part was we got a good shot of rain that we desperately needed. Now I think I am going to have mow the lawn again because everything is turning green once again.
This past Saturday (8/4/12) my DH had a truck pull in one of the local towns but I decided to stay home and have some me time. I sat and watch the whole first season of True Blood (this is what I get for having my DD back living with us, she has movies that I have not seen). I also stitched while watching the TV. So do you want to see what I stitched on?

Noel
Yuletide Linens from Christmas Quickie Leisure Arts Book
Designer Deborah Lambein
Completed 8/4/12
14 ct cream & lace fingertip towel
I have not worked on 14 count fabric in a long time, it was a great change of pace for me.

The next piece that I will show you is for my niece, Chrissy, her baby is due in the middle of August. So I started this cross stitch picture keepsake for the new little one.
Bear Photo Frame
From Sweet Baby Memories by Leisure Arts
32ct oyster linen & called for DMC floss
Started on 7/18/12
I have more done on it since I took this picture a couple of days ago.

this is what is will look like when
completed.
I also plan to change a few colors to make the pink stand out for her little girl.

Well I was too the dentist today and had a tooth pulled and a bridge put in. And the stuff that he gave me is wearing off so I think its time for a pain pill and a nap.

I hope everyone is having a great week!
Happy Stitching

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
