A small Christmas finish

Good Morning Everyone!
We just had a thunderstorm roll though, lasted about 10 minutes and we got an inch of rain and stuff blown all over the place. Some places got hail but we miss it! Thank goodness!!!!

Last week I was thinking about Christmas ornaments and realize I had not stitched any for a long time. So I grabbed my new Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament 2013 and found 8 ornaments that I would like to do. The first one I did was 2013 Santa.
I was going to show you my progress a couple of days ago but never got around to it.

 2012 Santa
Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments 2013
by Charlette's Collectibles - Charlette Dockens
14 ct  Preforated Plastic
Called for DMC Floss
Started - 9/13/13
Finished - 9/18/13

Has anyone else done any ornaments out of this Christmas Issue yet?

Here is an updated picture of Beneath the Sunlit Sky that I have been working on.
I have removed the 2007  and will be replacing it with 2013.

On Friday my DH got a new toy to play with this fall.

If you didn't know - this is a Combine which he uses to take the corn and beans out of the fields. We have always had one but it was much smaller so he figured it was time to upgrade. He is one happy guy!

And on Saturday I went and watched my grandson play football. He is only in the fifth grade but it was fun watching him any way. He plays center.

Well that is about all for today!

My Work In Progress (WIP)

Good Evening Everyone!
I planned on doing this post Friday morning but my DD1 texted me that she and my granddaughter were coming over in the morning so I wouldn't be able to play on the computer like I do most mornings :(

After I finished Welcome October I dug around and found another WIP from my Crazy January Challenge 2012 that I need to work on. (actually there are 6 that are not completed) Well the one that caught my eye was .........
The Best Things by Waxing Moon Designs
I started it on Jan 4, 2012 and put 347 stitches in it. It has not seen the light of day since I took it out Sept. 3, 2013. I worked on it Tuesday and Wednesday and this is what it looks like now.
The border and half of the mauve heart was done on the 4th of January the rest I completed on Tue & Wed.  Then this morning I am up digging around my sewing room looking for my fall decorations that I completed last year. But alas I got distracted and started looking at patterns, kits and other stuff when I came across an old WIP.
Beneath the Sunlit Sky by Blackbird Designs
The wording on this says
The Sea appears all golden
Beneath the Sunlit Sky
I put my DH and my initials in the upper corners and as you can see I stitched 2007 in the lower part. I have not decided if I am going the remove it and replace it with 2013 or not. What do you think? Should I or not? Please let me know what you think.
I work on it for a little while today and got about 300 stitches done so this is how it looks now
And I think this will be my next finish!
Well its almost 11:00 pm so I better get my butt to bed!
(no it is 11:00 pm now)

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Another beautiful morning here in South Dakota! It is actually a little chilly at 52 degrees but I still have all my windows open and airing my house out. Love this fall like weather!
Yesterday I sat on my bum all day long and did nothing but stitch! I had the house to my self and loved it, my DH even order pizza for supper so I didn't even have to cook. Ya Me!!!!.
I completed about 800 stitches yesterday and here is a picture of my finish

Update on the Stitching Front

Good Morning Everyone!
Can you believe its the last day of August already? I keep thinking that things will start to slow down and I can get something useful accomplished but it never happens.
Last week we spent time at Prairie Village ( a long weekend event that has old tractors, trains, buildings that you can go through and there is free entertainment, there are tractor pulls, and horse drawn plows. I think you get the picture) This is the highlight of our summer and the kids always look forward to it. We camp there all week long, some of us in campers and some in tents. Its a great time! This year I was not in the picture taking mood so what few pictures I did take I have not downloaded yet.

We have a little bit of a  break in the weather today. This morning was in the 60's so the air is off and the windows are all open and we are enjoying some farm fresh air. I love the fall air! Today my DH is out chopping Silage with some neighbors glad its not so hot out there for them.

I have a finish to share with everyone !

This is  Blooming with Inspiration
by Belinda Karls-Nace
Blue Ribbon Designs
I used 40 ct Wisteria hand dyed fabric from Lakeside Linens
and the called for Weeks Dye Works floss.
I started this as part of the Crazy January Challenge 2012
January 10, 2012 to be exact.
Finished it August 30, 2013
I really like the bright colors in this piece! And now to get it framed and hung up!

Now that I am done with this piece I was digging around looking for something to catch my eye to work on next and this is what I found.
Welcome October 2009 by
Brenda Gervais - With thy Needle & Thread
I started this piece on Oct 24, 2011, It doesn't feel like that long ago that I worked on it. I will have this piece done to display this October for sure. It was a freebie that Brenda had on her blog and you see it HERE and print a copy for your self.
Well that's about it for this post, I need to get ready to go to work for a couple of hours then it's a cookout at my daughters this evening. Should be fun and some great food!

Have a great weekend everyone

A little of this and a little of that????

Good Morning Blogland!

I have to tell you that I am loving this weather we are having! It gets up to about 80 degrees during the day and drops down to the low 60's in the evenings - great sleeping weather. We could use a good shot of rain! Every time we get a chance of rain it misses us.

After finishing Abigail's birth sampler I decided to start something new.
This is Snowy Morn by Shepherds Bush
I am using the 32 ct Dirty linen an Au Ver a Soie Silk threads that came with this kit.
The 4 days that I worked on it I have completed 1030 stitches on it. It is so fun stitching with this silk thread. I  keep looking over at my pile of  WIP's , and think I should be working on some of them.
Guilt got to me and I grabbed We Three Kings and started working on it and now I can't put it down. I stayed up the other night until 4 in the morning working on it. ( I did try to go to bed but couldn't sleep)
Here is my progress so far on it.
If you want to see what it looked like the last time I updated about this piece you can go HERE. I have stitched 3 days on this piece and have put in 1077 stitches in.
I don't think that We Three Kings will be completed this year but maybe next year for sure. There is a lot of Kreinik that is used as well as Mill Hill Beads. The one good thing is that there is very little backstitching! I totally love all the beautiful colors in this project.
This is my box of DMC, Kreinik, & Beads for We Three Kings.

Well the dishes, the laundry, the floors, and of course the stitching is calling my name so until next time

One More Finish to add to my list

Good Morning Everyone!

Where did the last 2 weeks go?
The last time that I posted we had just gotten through my sons wedding. What a great weekend that was!
I have not been doing a lot of stitching lately, but the one piece that I have been working on is finished just in time for my great nieces 1st birthday.
Giraffe Baby Girl Sampler
Tobin Home Crafts
Chrissy started this piece in Aug 2012 and handed it off to me in Sept to finish up for her.
The kit came with 14 ct aida but Chrissy chose  a piece of 28 ct linen and we used the thread that came with the kit.
And I finished it last night (07-29-13)

A couple of reasons that I have not been stitching much lately is I have been working in my craft room putting in a new cupboard for my quilting material. I saw on pinterest that you could use comic book board and wrap you material around it and stand you fabric up so you can see what you have easier, kinda like walking in a quilt store but with smaller bolts of fabric. I will take pictures when its compete. And I also have been digging into my family history again. Always fun to find a missing piece of information that you have been looking for, and I have been organizing some of my paper copies and photos.
But the needle is calling me but I am not sure what I will work on next, a WIP or start something new?
Decisions - Decisions!

Here are a few more pictures that I took at the wedding

Well that's about all for today, time to go take my shower and start some laundry and pick up the house a little. My DH's brother is coming in from WY today and will be here until Sunday. They talk every week on the phone but haven't seen each other for a couple of years. Should be a fun week for my husband.

Happy Stitching!

Finishes, Family,& Fun times Oh My!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

First of all I had the most wonderful weekend!
My son got married on Saturday to a wonderful young lady that we are proud to now call our daughter!
I took a ton of pictures but I won't bore you with a lot of them just a couple of my favorite ones.
The happy couple
My two beautiful daughters
My daughter and her family
We had a lot of family from out of state that came for the wedding and we enjoyed visiting with everyone! One memorable picture that we had taken was with the two people that stood up for my husband and I at our wedding 34 years ago.  Our best man lives in MN and my maid of honor lives 45 minutes south of us, so we its rare that the 4 of us are together. Boy have we all aged! ( I just might have to post then and now pictures)

Now on to the stitchy stuff!!!
I finished the traveling pattern that I received from Lynda, so here it is.
The Busy Needle by LHN
28 ct SandCastle   Linen
Called for floss
Started 7/2/13
Finished 7/6/13
about 1360 Stitches
I have not had a chance to stitch since I finished this piece until last night. I worked on USA.
All that I have left on this piece is the words Long
May it wave. And then I will make it into a
Pinkeep.
This last picture was taken on Thrusday , my grandkids brought me the pretty flowers there on the table for my 55th birthday. These guys always bring a smile to my face. I love them so much!!!

Well time to go to work for a little while.

Happy 4th of July

Good Morning Everyone !
We had an awesome 4th of July and I hope everyone else did also!

I tried to post a blog a couple of days ago and for some reason I kept getting error messages so I just gave up and decided to try again this morning and so far so good. The real test will come when I go to publish it.

To start with I finished my butterfly
Rose Wings by Just Nan
28ct taupe cashel  linen
Called for DMC floss and beads
Started 6/19/13
Finished 6/26/13
I have it framed and hanging on the wall but have not taken a picture of it finished finished yet.

After finishing that up I wanted to do something for the 4th of July, well I didn't get it done. I actually started this one on the 7th of January 2012 as part of the Crazy January Challenge 2012. I completed about 60 stitches and hadn't touch it since.
this is as of 7/2/13
USA Tall Trios by the Trilogy
32 ct belfast linen
called for WDW floss
Started 1/7/12
I plan to finish this on into a pin keep when I get it completed. I did stop stitching on it because a traveling pattern came in the mail and I was so excited about it that I started it right away so that I could pass it on to the next luck stitcher. I had contacted Lynda at http://acozylittleplaceforstitching.blogspot.com/ to see if I could join in the fun of stitching this traveling pattern. And she said I was next in line. And received it on July 2nd and started working on that afternoon. Its called The Busy Needle, and I have been wanting to stitch it ever since I seen it on Beckys blog.
So here is what I have completed so far

I did not do any stitching yesterday on the 4th because we were on the go all day. I started the day at 6:30 mowing the house yard and the shop yard, then we left the house at 10:00 to head to the pickup pull that we go to every 4th of July. We had a great time with our kids, grandkids and friends.
my granddaughter had her 4th of July headband on to help  celebrate the day

my grand son - I think he was asking for money to go get something to eat or drink

Loading weights for the next pull

and there is even some neck rubbing going on as we watch the pull.
this is my daughter getting her nick rubbed by her uncle.
It will probably be a week of two before I post again as next weekend (7/13/13) my son is getting married. So will be busy getting last minute things done and family from out of state will be around. Busy, busy, busy!!!! But can't for there special day!

Until next time

Mug Rugs

Good Morning Everyone!
Can you believe it I don't post for almost 3 weeks and now 3 posts in the last week.
I don't have a lot to report this morning, but I wanted to show you what I made last night.
No I didn't make donuts - they are store bought.

It's a Mug Rug, for my coffee cup and snack

This is my first try  at making a Mug Rug and I intend to make more of these cute little mug rugs for myself and gifts for my favorite people. They stitch up quick. What do you think of them? Have you seen them before? I found them on pinterest.

Here is a update on Home of a Needleworker.

It is kinda quite around the farm this morning. We sold 21 head of fat steers yesterday so we only have 6 steers left in the fat lot. And then we hauled the last of the cow-calf pairs out to the pasture. No more sitting here playing on my computer and watching the baby calves running around.

Well I need to finish my dishes up and then get ready to run my errands this morning.

Quilting and Sewing

Good Sunday Morning!
On Friday I posted that I felt like doing some quilting and that is what I did, but not quilt blocks I made a table topper. I had the majority of it done on Friday. then Saturday morning I put the binding on, now I just have to do the hand sewing on the binding. Her is a couple of pictures of it.

Then yesterday I also made a pillow case for a pillow that I leave on my couch when some one wants to take a nap. Here's a couple pictures of it.

I think it turned out kinda cute. I know I could have just gone and bought one at a store but this was more fun. A couple of years ago I made a pillow case for each of my grandkids. The two boys got John Deere pillow cases and the girls got Disney Pricness. They are really easy to make.

Well the husband just told me I have to go help him grind feed for the cattle :( Not m favorite job. Today will  be a dirty day as we had an inch and a half of rain yesterday so we get to work in mud.

Until next time!

Way over due post!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!
Oh my goodness where did the last couple of weeks go?
Nothing exciting has been going on here. Just the same as always - cleaning, laundry, mowing & dieting. Then get up the next day and do it all over again. I have worked on my family history several days, found some interesting stuff and hit some road blocks, but love looking and putting pieces of the past together.

Last weekend my future daughter in law had a bridal shower and she got a lot of nice gifts. This week end is her bachelorette party. I plan to go for the beginning of the evening (supper and drinks) and when the girls take off in the party bus I will be going home and let them party the night away. ( This 50 some year old can not keep up with a bunch of 25 year old's any more).

I have only been working on one project since my last post and that is:
Home of a Needleworker

In my last post I only had the blue in the house done. I am still counting my stitches as I go, so here is the stats so far.
Just the blue in the house had 882 stitches in it.
And as of last night I had completed 3758 stitches on this piece so far.

I don't know how much stitching I will get done today because I have been wanting to do some quilting. So after I get off this computer I will be heading to my craft room and working on some quilt blocks. I have not worked on quilt blocks for quite some time.

Well that is about it for now.

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
