A Big Finish

In one of my last blogs I said that I had put all my cross stitching away until I got my grand daughter birth sampler done well I did it. On Thursday all three grand children were here to spend the day with grandma. While my granddaughter took her nap I put the last stitches in. Boy did I do a quite happy dance (didn't want to wake her up). While I finished the birth sampler up my grandsons were mowing my yard for me, another ya for me (I hate to mow). Then I took them to there ball game and watch them win there second game. What a great day I had!
Here are some pictures of my finish and of the grandkids.
I love this little saying!

All framed and ready to hang
Stoney Creek Collection
Guardian Angel Birth Sampler
I am not sure what the fabric was,
it was some that I had in my stash.
It called for anchor floss but I use DMC

And my three beautiful grandchildren

Off to get ready for the parade in town and then this afternoon we have Sharlee's 2nd Birthday party. I am planning on working on my Santa picture sometime this weekend.

Happy Stitching everyone!

Lost Cause

Well I didn't get any stitching done today, we had a house full of people this morning and then we left for Canby, MN  for a pickup pull. ( pictures to follow) It was a beautiful day for the pull, no rain and the temp didn't get too hot. Enjoyed spending time with the middle daughter and her 3 step daughters.(pictures of them to follow also) The girls have always lived in town so to come to the farm is always so much fun for them.

This is a 1950 chevy pickup that my husband pulls during the summer months it our family summer fun!

The name of our truck is Lost Cause.
Its a long story on how it got its name, a story for some other time.

This is my daughter Kay and her 3 step daughters
enjoying a bite to eat as they watch the pull.

Kenzie giving me a cute look!

It's Time to finish the Birth Sampler

Well my daughter had her last baby ( my granddaughter) June 29th 2009. We were all excited to find out she was a girl ( we have 2 grandsons). From the time I found out what she was having I was going through all my books and stash to find the perfect Birth Sampler. I did find a lot but none that my daughter liked. Then one day as we were shopping she found one she loved, it was from Stoney Creek collection called Guardian Angel Birth Sampler. One downfall was that it was charted with Anchor floss and I only use DMC, so I had to convert all the colors first before I got started. It was the first week in April of 2010 and I had good intentions to have it completed by her 1st birthday. Ya that never happened, not that I didn't try.The first month I went wild with it and got a lot done, my daughter was really impressed. Her first birthday came and went and I started and finished other projects. Its time to put everything away and work on this until its completed. And it will be finished and framed by her second birthday. I am posting a picture and as you can see I have to put her name and date and weight on the top and finish back stitching the angels dress and the back stitching the little blue bird. Oh and put her halo on her.
Sorry the picture is not the greatest, but as you can see I have completed quite a bit since I last post a picture of it (to the Left side of my blog). The verse on top says

MAY GOD
WHO LOVES ALL LITTLE ONES
LOOK DOWN FROM HEAVEN ABOVE
AND BLESS THIS BABY
WITH HIS GRACE
AND EVERLASTING LOVE

I feel like a bad grandma for not having this done sooner! Well I am off to bed, we have a busy weekend ahead of us. My middle daughter and her 3 step daughters are here to spend some time this weekend. And with her 3 kid and my other daughter's 3 kids we have a house full. ( there ages are 9, 8 , 7, 5, 4, & 2) Oh what fun we have!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Happy Stitching

More Cleaning & Stitching

After my last blog where I showed you my craft room all done, I started on my spare bedroom, because my son just moved his stuff out of there and into his own place. So now I am organizing all my family history papers, pictures, documents, & books that I have accumulated. I now have a place to work on my genealogy and not have it all over the dinning room.

I pulled out & worked on my Stoney Creek pattern of the month series that I started last year. I am working on December's ( Be Kind) and then all I have left is January's (Trust God) and I will have this one finished. I have a picture of this series on the left side of my blog Its not very clear so I will have to get some better pictures of it and post.

I also started a new project Thursday night. As I was cleaning my craft room I came across this book called Heavenly Cross Stitch by Marie Barber, in there I came across a pattern for a Santa (I usually try to cross stitch a Santa every year for Christmas) So my goal is to have it done by this Christmas to hang with the other ones.

Well that's about it for now I will post pics later in the week
Until then Happy Stitching

My Craft Room

Well since I lost my job a couple of weeks ago I have been cleaning spots that sometimes get neglected. One of those spots is my craft room, well yesterday I tackled it and have it once again organized enought to take some pictures to share with everyone. Its nothing fancy but its my special place.

I hope you enjoyed the tour or my craft room I think it time to go get some stitching done.
My next blog will be updates on my WIP.

New Start and Finish

This pattern is from Just Cross Stitch 2010 Christmas Issue
Primrose Needleworks
Windows of Faith, Hope, and Peace
I used the recommended fabric and thread.
I plan on finishing as a pillow-ornament

I started this piece on Thrusday evening and finished stitching it on Monday evening. I planned on being done sooner than that but with having to go to graduation for my niece on Saturday and my husbands first truck pull of the season on Sunday I had to take a couple of days off from stitching. Here are a couple of pics of the truck & tractor pull and some of my family.

His Truck is called Lost Cause

This has been our family summer fun time for the past 6 years

This is my son pulling his M International

This is my oldest daughter holding her daughter (aka my granddaughter)

Well its time to get supper in the oven so it gets done before the husband gets home from work. I think I like this staying home thing. I have lots of time for my computer and stitching and a little cleaning.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Weekend!
 Happy Stitching everyone!!!!

LIFE

Time to post an update on what is going on in my life. Last Friday (5/20/11) Started out bad and then just got progressively worst. The worst part was that I got let go from my job that I had for 8 years. And didn't see it coming. So since then I have been in an adjustment mode. I do like being at home and spending the afternoons with my dogs who have been trying to figure out what I am doing home all day but are enjoying the attention. The other thing that I have been doing is cleaning places that don't normally get cleaned very often. finding things that I had forgotten I had and things that I don't know why I kept. I have been doing a lot of throwing out. Yaaa more space !!
I found a box of old pictures so last night I sat and looked thru them. Most of them are from when my 3 children were growing up, brought back lots of memories.
I have been getting some stitching done but not as much as I thought I would be doing since I'm not working but may be after I get  some of this cleaning done I will spend more time on it. hopefully next post I will have some pic to post.

Until next time  Happy Stitching

Weekend Start & Finish

This was a freebie that I found in my stack of print outs. Its called Nordic Blue and it is stitched on 14 count huck towel. the pattern came from Cross-Stitch & Needlework. It was quick and easy and only calls for 3 DMC colors. This one will stay in my home, planning on hanging it in my bathroom as a decoration.

I had a house full of kids this weekend so the stitching was limited to after hours when everyone else was sleeping. On Sunday I spent the day cleaning up the mud that the kids tracked in, and the dishes, and the laundry, but managed to get some stitching in.

My sister came over and we went over to a friends and picked rhubarb, can't wait to make a rhubarb crisp with what we pick. YUMMY. We also dug one of the plants up to transplant so we can start our own patch of rhubarb for next year.

Until next time - Happy Stitching everyone!!!!!!

progress report

As you can see I have gotten some done on my Woodland Enchantress but not as much as I would like to have done by now. 4 weeks with the In-Laws gave me plenty of time to work on it, now that I am back at home, not so much!
Tonight I won't have a chance to stitch :( I have a Catholic Daughters Meeting and then I suppose I should spend a little time with the husband as today is our 32nd Wedding Anniverary. Where does the time go?
I better get back to work now.
Happy Stitching everyone

Mothers Day Weekend

Time to catch up on all the blogs that I read and update you on my Mothers Day Weekend!

In my last blog I mentioned that it was my nieces birthday and that her mother was going down to see her and I surprised my homesick niece and went to Pella,Iowa with my sister. We left Friday morning and got down there after lunch. We sat the rest of the day and visited and checked out Chrissy's new house.

The town of Pella was having there Tulip Time Festival going on over the weekend so on saturday we walked around the venders, the flower shows, the quilt show, we saw people wearing Dutch costumes, they had several parades and of course we had to stop at the bakery for Dutch Letters - YUMMY!!!! we did a lot of walking and the weather was gorgeous

Sunday we left Pella and got home about 6:00pm, oh and what a surprise I had waiting for me. My husband had painted my bathroom & hung a new shower rod. But it didn't stop there he had pork loins, potatoes and baked beans for supper. The sad part of the day was I didn't get to see my 3 kids on Sunday but they all called & talked to me.

Here are some pictures I took while I was in Pella,Iowa.

These are just a few of my favorite pics, as you can see there were tons of tulips everywhere you went.

One last surprise that I got was on Monday while I was at work someone delivered these beautiful yellow roses to me. They were my mothers day gift from my daughter Kay, She knows how I love yellow roses.
Well I did manage to get a little cross stitching in over the week end but I will have to post pictures of them later I need to get to work now.
I hope every one is enjoying the beautiful weather

Quick Update

Just a quick update today, I made this little pin cushion for my niece, she is also a cross stitcher and was my stitching buddy until she moved 5 hours away. We still talk and keep up on our lastest projects. Tomorrow is her birthday so I hope her mother will take this to her when she goes to visit this weekend. Happy Birthday Chrissy. I love and miss you!
I should also mention that I got this idea from a fellow blogger but can't remember which blog it was.
Thank you for the great idea.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MOTHERS OUT THERE
Take time to do some stitching and relax!!

I think Spring is Here

I
I Think spring is here now! It official here on this farm when the calves just start appearing all over the place. Its fun to watch them run and play together. We usually have baby chicks but with the flood and all we have put that on hold because we don't have a place to put them at this time.

Our 8 year old grand son decided to test the waters with his 3 wheeler. This is in a field next to our house. He got it stuck and worked for quiet awhile on his own to get it out. He finally had to come ask his uncle TJ to help him get it out.

I have been trying for a long time to get a good picture of our 1 year old German Shepperd mix dog (I wanted to call him our puppy, but as you can see he is no puppy) His name is Tank and we rescued him from a shelter. He is so good with kids and he doesn't even knock our 2 year old granddaughter over but he loves to lick her face.

And this is our 3 year old Sonny and he loves to sleep on our old picnic table

On the Cross Stitching Note - Oh ya I haven't gotten much stitching done lately with moving back home and cleaning things up and calving season here and grandkids here and is that enough excuses.Hopfully this week I will be able to sit in the evening and get some x's in.

Happy stitching everone

Oh Yaaaaaa!!!!! I'm back home!!!!

Last night I finished this small project that I started last week

I did get some done on my Woodland Enchantress but did
not get a picture of it to post today maybe later this week I will post some progress.

My son got back home from school on Friday and I didn't even recognized him when he walked by me. Boy did he make fun of me for that. He has put on weight, he was alway so skinny. and now he is fill out and looks good. he will be home for a couple of months and then head to Wyoming to finish school. I have never seen him so interested in school. I should mention he is going to school for auto restoration.

Yep after 4 weeks of living with the in-laws my husband and I are back in our home. We still have a little water in the basement and cleanng up to do outside, but we are sleeping in our own bed and loving it. We had a nice Easter with my husbands large family ( lot of little kids ) The kids had an Easter Egg hunt which was fun to watch. And lots of good food of course.

I hope everyone had a good Easter and got a lot of stitching done!!!!!!

progress update

This is Woodland Enchantress that I started April 2

And this next one is one that I started last week, it not a big project so it sould be done fairly quickly.

I am not sure how I will finish this one, but I just love the colors.

Well we are still staying with the In-Laws because we still have water in the basement and the weather is still very cold here. I was really hoping to be back home this past weekend but that didn't happened. The good part of all this is that I have gotten more stitching done than if I was home. My mother in law has the house cleaned and supper on the table when we get home from work, so my evenings are spend cross stitching. Ya for me!!
Saturday afternoon I got to spend some time with my favorite niece and my sister. But our visit just was not long enough.I see a weekend trip in the forcast (because my niece lives 5 hours away)
Then we had our 3 grandchildren on saturday night and sunday. They are so much fun to have around! Well its time to get back to work. I hope everyone has a great week and plenty on stitching in!

I decided it was time to update my blog as it hasn't been done since the 2nd of April. We are still living with the in-laws. The water has gone down but we still have water in our basement and can't get a new furnace in yet. And it is still too cold in the house to stay with out the furnace. I have added some pictures of my finished projects to left side of my blog. I will have to update them when I get home with the name of the project and the designer. I also started a new project on Sunday (april 2, 2011) it is called Woodland Enchantress by Dimensions. the second picture shows my progress as of last night. I hope everyone has a nice weekend and get to stitch to there hearts content! I know I am going to try!!!!

Sunny & 55 degrees outside

Its Saturday after noon now and I have my laundry done and house picked up here at my in-laws and I have been down to our house and started doing some clean up, at least as much as I can for now. The sun is out and feels so good. I have the windows open getting some of the fresh air in. And now I think its time for some major Cross stitch time. Enjoy the afternoon! Denise

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
