TUSAL, Updates & a Give Away

First up since my last update is that I have been working on a baby bib for my great niece that is due the middle of March. Nothing fancy but just something with the little ones name on it. The center A square is finished and outlined and there will be an A in the last square that is empty at the moment. I have not decided it I will stitch something on top of the name or just leave it, but at this point I think it needs something?

I have added a few more stitches to Metamorphosis. This one is almost half done.

My TUSAL for February. The tall vase is holding January's orts and I will continue to add to this tall vase thought out the year.

And the following picture is my first try at finishing a flat ornament. The green is not glued down yet because I didn't have a ribbon that I liked to put on it between the red and green layers. And I think I will cut another green piece of felt and make it a little bigger. But this is easier than I thought it would be, thanks to Vonna's Tutorials on her blog The Twisted Stitcher. She does a great job explaining the process. ( I still need more practice )

.

And as you can see on the right side of my blog it shows that in 14 days is my 1 year Blogoversary and I have decided to have a give away on March 6. I have already started putting some things together for it. My only rule is to be a follower and comment  on this post only. Good Luck to everyone.

Time to get off the computer and get some stitching done

Another Christimas ornament done

Good morning everyone!
We got a dusting of snow this morning and everything is white again, but it won't last long because it is suppose to get up to 45 degrees tomorrow. We have had such a mild winter here in the SD. With such a mild and snow free winter I hope for no flooding this spring.

I finished my second Christmas ornament for 2012
Mitten Sampler Ornament
Candamar Designs (Patterns Online)
Started 2/10/12  -  Finished 2/14/12
28ct Antique White Jobelan
DMC floss

This past week end we drove to Iowa for one of my granddaughters 6th birthday party. I think we spent more time on the road driving there and back home than we did visiting them at the party. Oh how I wish they lived closer. Here are a few pictures of the birthday girl.
Kacee

My daughter Kay made the cake and cupcakes ( I think she said she got the idea off of Pinerest)

The cake is a rainbow cake. Isn't that the cutest idea!

Here is a picture of all 6 of my grandkids, what a wild bunch they are!

Time to catch up on my blog reading and maybe get a few stitches in this afternoon!

Eye Candy and more!

I don't know how to Thank Terri at dixiesampler enough for all the great goodies that I won in her giveaway. They came in the mail today and I got down to business opening all the specially wrap packages. So here are the pictures I took of all the great stuff she sent.
Look at all these packages that came out of the box she sent.

I love all 3 of the charts that Terri sent and there are 2 fat quarter of fabric, 1 darker color and 1 lighter colored one. the lighter one I will be using to finish my Basket of Hearts that I just finished stitching. The colors match perfectly!  I am trying one of the Godiva Chocolate Strawberries as I type this.
The next one I opened was this Love Journal - very pretty!

Some ribbon and Ric rack

3 pieces of Linen

Stickie notes, page flags, list pad & journal

5 Sampler Threads & 4 Crescent Colours
2 pkgs heart buttons, 2 pkgs Mill Hill beads
& 4 little Crochet Flowers

The last package that I opened up brought me to tears, I do not have one of these sewing boxes and this one is so beautiful

And inside this beautiful box was 2 Yankee candles and some Hersey's Kisses. I took that stuff out and found laying in the bottom a pair of cute black heart scissors. Aren't they cute.

My last picture is of everything that came in the box and spread out on my dinning room table.
Getting this box today has really brighten my day!
Thanks again Terri
Everything is awesome and I love it all!

I hope everyone gets a chance to win a giveaway like this sometime it is totally awesome!

Happy Stitching everyone

Valentines and Giveaways

My last update was last Thursday and the two pieces that I showed you that day have not been touched since, because Friday I decided to start a new piece that I didn't think would take too long to do. I mostly stitch in the evenings while sitting with my DH watching TV. I finally put the last stitches in it last night.
Basket of Hearts by Tereena Clarke
Fabric - 28 ct Autumn Blush Cashel Vintage linen
Floss  - DMC 321, 666,& 3706
WDW Swiss Chocolate, & Baby's Breath

I plan to go to town today and find some Valentine material to make this into a small pillow. My next project is to get my Christmas ornament stitched for the month of February. More on that after I decide which one I will do, I have so many that I want to do!

On Monday I got an email from Terri at  Dixiesampler that I had won her give away, Oh Ya for me! Thank you very much Terri! I got another email that she had mailed it out yesterday and that I should have it my Saturday so I will be watching the mail box for the the next couple of day. I will post all my goodies when I receive them.

Speaking of Give aways  as you can see on my side bar my Blogoversary is in 26 days so I will be planning a give away of my own. But more info on that in a future post.

Well I am still sitting here in my PJ's so it time to go put some big girl clothes on so my granddaughter & I can go shopping for that material I need. And there are always other errands to do.

Happy Stitching everyone!

Floss Storage!

I have reading on a few blogs about the way everyone stores there floss. So I thought I would share what I do to store my floss and threads
DMC floss is store 2 ways
The first way is the floss is wrapped on bobbins and these are the ones that I work from and use on my current projects.

and my extra ones are stored in plastic floss keeper bags and are kept in a drawer in my craft room until I run out of one that is on a bobbin or is kitted in another project.

My WDW , GAST & CC are stored in a 3 ring binders. I have 3 notebooks, one for each of the different kinds of thread.
I try to keep them in alphabetic order for the most part.

And as you can see I use Business Card pages  and the threads fit perfectly in them, and you can see them at a glance.
Well that's how I keep my threads organized and it seems to work for me.

Now for some progress pictures
Enchanted Alphabet - I just need to finish the letter Z  and a few  other things and it will done. (hope to have it done soon!)

Metamorphosis is coming alone - I like working on this one because you don't have to change colors all the time.

And of course I have to include a picture of my granddaughter, she is spending the day with me today.

Off to read some more blogs and do a little stitching while the little one takes her nap!
