We Three Kings

This is a quick post to ask if any one out there has stitched We Three Kings by Glendon Place. I have the pattern, material, DMC floss and beads all kitted up. Now the question is did you stitch all the DMC first then go back and stitch the Kreinik or would it be OK to use the Kreinik as you are stitching the DMC colors. I have never done a project this large with so much Kreinik thread and beads and I am just looking for some advice before I get started on it.

Sorry I don't have any updates to show, I figured I have only stitched a little over a thousand stitches the whole month of Dec so far. Not so good when I usually do about 300-400 every day normally

I have over 300 blogs to read and get caught up on, so I may be at the computer for a while today.

Hope every one had a great Christmas!
Happy Stitching

Final TUSAL for 2012

When I did my last post I forgot about my TUSAL update
so as I was reading and catching up on my blog reading
and see eveeryone elses TUSAL I figured I better get my picture taken and posted.

Most of the colors in my dish are from working on Abigails birth sampler.
The christmas bulb with the 2012 written on it has all of my orts form this year in it
so we start saving again. Here is a picture of all 4 bulbs that I have done.

We went to a craft show last week and the girls had to have these,
Kyla, Kacee, Kynzie modeling there tutu's and
 matching head bands

This picture was also taken at the craft show we attended.
This is me and my bff, we have been friends
since we were in the 3rd grade.
Well it's about time for me to get ready  to go to work at the post office for the afternoon, so until next time

No Stitching :(

Good morning fellow bloggers!
It has been 15 days since I posted last :)
I have no pictures of my stitching because,
well the little bit that I have stitched is not enough to
show. I have been cleaning and decorating for christmas.

The Stockings are hung with care.

The tree is up and decorated

My Santa's are on display.

My snowman's are out

And my small cross stitched ornaments got a new little tree this year.

We had a day of baking with DD1, DD2 & GD

I think Sharlee ate more marshmallows then anything else.

Here is what we made:
Peanut butter blossoms
chocolate chip coukie dough truffels
peanut clusters
oreo truffles
christmas white trash
santa hat pretzels
peanut butter pretzel bars
chocolate chip holiday tea cakes
creamy chocolate fudge
turtle cookies
peanut butter ritz crackers dipped in chocolate

It was a busy day and I was tired by the end of the day.

And the final thing that has kept me away from the computer is I got a part time job working at the local small town post office. So this past week I have been in training from 8-4:30 every day. I know poor me. Well after I get done with some more traning  my work hours will only be 4 hours a day. Perfect for me.

Well my daughter is on her way out here to pick me up too go shopping so I better get dressed  so I am ready shen she gets here.

I am going to leave you with one last picture that I took and I hope you enjoy!
A friend of mine said it looks like we could be Santa and Mrs Claus

Snicker Salad

I have had a few comments and emails from my last post about what is
Snicker Salad?

It is one of my families favorite salads and there are several different recipes out there to make it but this is the one that I use.

Snicker Salad
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 (12 oz) container of Cool Whip, thawed
6 snicker candy bars
4-6 granny smith apples

Mix cream cheese & powdered sugar until thoroughly blended.
Fold in  Cool Whip.
Cut snickers into bite size chunks and a to cream cheese mixture.
Chop the apples into chunks and stir.
Chill 1 hour before serving.

Enjoy!!!!!

I have been stitching up a storm this weekend. I work on Abigails birth sampler and started putting some backstitching on it to make it look more pronounced. And I started another LHN piece called Poinsettia House. I have about 570 stitches into the house so far. No pictures for this post but will have some snaps on the next post.

Back to stitching for me
Hope everyone is having a great weekend
Until next time

Autumn Leaves

I was reading poems to my granddaughter last night  and just loved this one.
I know that Autumn is just about over with and the leaves are gone now,
but I hope you enjoy it anyway

Autumn Leaves
by Aileen Fisher

One of the nicest beds I know isn't a bed of soft white snow,
isn't a bed of cool green grass after the noisy mowers pass,
isn't a bed of yellow hay making me itch for half a day--
but autumn leaves in a pile that high deep, and smelling like fall,
and dry.
That's the bed where I like to lie and watch the flutters go by.

I could tell she enjoyed all the poems that I read to her because of the smile on her face as I read them.

Now on a different note earlier yesterday my granddaughter was spending some quality time with her Auntie Kay and here are a few pictures that I got of them together.

Making silly faces

not sure what Sharlee was doing

Sharlee and Auntie Kay

Auntie Kay lets Sharlee play games on her phone.

Well I need to get my butt in gear and get my Thanksgiving shopping done today so I can do my cleaning and preping tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!
I am so thankful for a wonderful family!!!!

An update and a finish

Good Morning everyone!
The sun is shining and suppose to be in the high 50's today. Gotta love the weather!

The light blue is kinda hard to see
but will be more defined after the
back stitching is done.
Thats about all on the stitching front.
I spent some time at my DH's new shop he is building on our property. He has been doing most of the work himself to save some money so it is slow going because he has a full time job besides working on the farm. Here are few pictures from this weekend.

Wiring the lights up

And we have lights

and the hoist is up and being put to use already

and now it time for a couple of bbq's
Well thats it for today, I hope everyone has a great week!

Back home again

Good morning everyone and welcome to my new followers!

I got back from WA state late Friday night - My sister's surgery went well and she is doing good. She was moving around pretty good when I left. And she is going back to work half days today.
Here is the view from her hospital room

I come from a small community so seeing all these huge building and freeways in the middle of town is a bit overwhelming. And driving in this area is not my cup of tea, I will take a less populated area anyday.

This is my sister and her furbaby, Jasper, after she got home from the hospital.

Not a whole lot to report on the stitching front, Last week while in WA, I only stitched 2 days but did get a small CJC2012 finished.

Morning Star by Blackbird Design
Started Jan 2, 2012
32 ct Antique White
and the 4 Crescent Colours called for.

The rest of the week I am working on Abigails birth sampler. It is coming along pretty good. I will post a picture of my progress in my next update.
I have errands to run today and things to get done.
Hope everyone is having a great week

I'm Leaving on a jet plane

Good morning everyone!
This is going to be short and sweet. And no pictures, sorry.
I am just about done packing and ready to fly out and see my younger sister.
She lives in the Seattle area and is having surgery tomorrow so I will be looking after her for a few days. I am hopeing to keep up with my blog reading and I might even try to post while I am out there but not sure if I will be able to. I will be home very late on Friday night so I foresee spending my weekend cleaning and doing laundry. Therefor I probably won't post any updates on my stitching until next Monday. Off to finish my husbands laundry (so I know he has clean clothes all week) and do a little grocery shopping for him.

Have a great week and

A finish and more progress

From the Leisure Arts Leaflet
Christmas Patches

I finished him on the evening of my last post. My plan is to make the patchwork wreath and stocking to go with Santa. but decided that I needed to work on Abigail's birth sampler so here is what I have been working on the last couple of days.

This picture was as of
Oct 5 2012

And this is as of last night
The baby has a face and hair.
I will continue to work on the birth sampler for a couple more days or until I feel I need to do something else for a while. But I would like to get as much done on this as possible this week because next week I am going to Tacoma WA from Monday to Friday to visit my sister. Not sure how much stitching I will get done while I am there. But I think I will be taking small projects to work on with me.

This past week end I had 3 special little girls at my house for the whole weekend. The two little ones (they are 5 & 6) love to draw and color so they keep themselves entertained but Kyla is 11 and is at that in between stage. She was looking through my cross stitch magazine and found a small ship she wanted to do. (it was in the new Cross Stitch Gold magazine that I just got) So I got her a piece of Aida and 3 of the colors she would need (not figuring that she would finish it this weekend). That was Saturday night, Sunday morning she ask for the other colors she needed to finish her ship. Before she left to go home to Iowa she had finished her little project. While she was packing her stuff up and loading it into the car I ran up stairs and found a little frame and snapped it in. She loved it !!!! Well guess what in all the excitement of her packing and them getting ready to leave we did not get a picture. But she promised to send me one.

Everyone have a great week!

First Snow of the Season

Well we got our first snow of the season. It was only about 2 inches and now at 3:00 pm its about half melted away. These pictures were taken at about 6:30 this morning.

In my last blog I stated that I hadn't stitched for a couple of days, well it was more like 4 days that I didn't stitch but I am back at it again. I worked on Abigail's birth announcement for a couple of nights. Forgot to take a picture of it, so I will up date that in my next post.

I did start something new (shocker) I was reading a blog and they were talking about a leisure arts leaflet from years and years ago. It was called Christmas Patches

This patchwork santa caught my interest ( I really like cross stitching Santas) and I went looking through my stash and found that I had that leaflet. I really wanted to do the big patchwork Santa but knew I wouldn't finish it so I settled on the medium Santa. All I have left is the back stitching.

This Santa is only about 5 inches tall so I will finish him as an ornament. And I got my patchwork fix for the moment. It took me longer that I though it would because I had to keep changing colors all the time. I should have him finished up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Well I better go get supper started - first I have to think of something to make?

I hope everone is having a great week so far!

My Late TUSAL

Good Morning everyone!
I am a couple days late in posting my TUSAL, but here it is.

I have not done any stitching in the last two days, ya I know I can't believe it either.
I am playing catch up here on the homefront after being gone for 4 days. There is a good chance that I will be sitting and doing some stitching today, on what I am not sure at this point.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

I kinda feel like I should have gotten more stitching done but I also  got a lot of reading done, took a nap every afternoon so I could stay up late at night with the big girls (actually the younger ones) and there was a lot of talking, laughing, checking out what everyone else is working on. And ofcourse we can't forget lots of snacking. It was a great weekend and now back at home to get caught back up on the laundry & cleaning that didn't get done while I was gone.

Have a great week everyone

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
