Last night I finished stitching my flower for my flower pot pin cushion, and tonight I will put it together. I will post a picture of it tomorrow. I decided to also post a couple more pictures of the flooding around our house.

Water around my house, this picture was taken a couple days ago.

As of this moring most of this water is gone.

As you can see in this picture the water is going down. In all the times that it has flooded I have never seen it freeze like this before Happy Stitching Denise

STRESS!!!!!

Well the water is going down but the basement is still half full of water. We won't be able to move back in until the water is gone and the basement is cleaned and furnace is replaced. We have been staying with my mother & father in law this past week and I am ready for a new home. they really get on my nerves. I hide out and try to get some stitching done, but they are like a bunch of kids and usually need me to do something for them. ( I wonder who does this stuff for them when my husband & I aren't around?) I was reading some other blogs yesterday and saw were someone had stitched a flower and put it on a small red flower pot and made a pin cushion. So I went to Micheals last night and got a couple of small flower pots and started stitching a flower ( i even found the same flower in a magazine that I had just gotten in the last month or so) Thanks for the good idea! Will post some pictures when I get it completed. Until next time. HAPPY STITCHING Denise

March 23,2011

Another picture of our place, not only has the water gone up now its snowing alsoAfter work we drove around and checked out the water situation, we headed back to Terry' s parents place and Marlys had supper done for us. That was a nice change for me not to have to think of something for supper. Then I managed to get a couple of hours of cross stitching in, actually I did backstitching on a WIP that I am hoping to complete shortly.

The Flood is here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well its Tuesday morning and I didn't get much sleep last night. At 12:30 am my husband comes into our bedroom and tells me to get dress and packed the flood was coming. You see we live about a quarter of a mile from the Big Sioux River and all the snow is melting from the north of us and coming down the river. By 2:30 am the house was almost surrounded with water, we got our stuff loaded in the car and the 3 dogs in the pickup and up to my mother & father in laws place. This is were we stay until the water goes down. This is the 5th time we have been flooded in the last 20 years, I think we should move the house to higher ground. I will try to post some of the pictures that I took this morning later this afternoon.
Oh and I should mention that one of the first things that I packed up was a couple of my cross stitching projects that I am working on. I'm going to need some stress relief time!

enjoying farm life

This is our granddaughter watching her two big brothers help us sort cattle.

Last night we sorted cattle and hauled a couple of them to the locker to be processed as we sorting them a bunch of them got out and we had to chase them around the farm a couple of time before we got them in. It was not fun with all the mud we have since the snow is melting. Our grandsons were out there helping us also, they were mud head to toe. I don't think there dad (our son in law) wanted to put them in his car to take them home, but we got them cleaned up enough for the ride home and then dad had to wash all there clothes when he got home ( our son in law is not much a farmer he is more of a city sleeker, but we love him anyway). He was not a happy camper. But who can complain the sun is shining and its getting warmer out.

I completed this Easter Egg last year but just framed it to put out on display this year. You can't see it but I framed it in a white frame, looks sharp and the colors stand out in it.

Here is an updated picture of the piece that I am working on at the this time. Its really been fun working on it and can't wait until its done and hanging up.

enhancing the site

The last few days I have spent time enhancing my blog site and I think I have it set up the way I want it. I have enjoyed looking at other blog sites and getting ideas and also admiring all the the gorgous stitching that every has done. I will start posting more of my WIP and finished pieces as I go along.
Finally we have a nice sunny day outside. I love the spring time, I so miss spending time outside with my dogs. We still have a lot of snow on the ground so it will be a while before I am rolling around in the yard with them.LOL.

Good Monday Morning

This is my daughter Kay and her niece (my granddaughter) Sharlee

It is snowing out again this morning but we are not suppose to get a lot today. I am so ready for spring to get here. The week end went by too fast. Did not get to spent much time with my Daughter, Kay as I would have liked. She had friends that she needed to spend time with and I had to work on Saturday until 2:00. Trey and Gavin stayed the weekend with us, they seem to think that our home is were they are suppose to be on the weekend. They love working with and following there Grandpa around the farm. They also love driving there snowmobile around the farm.
