A finish and more progress

From the Leisure Arts Leaflet
Christmas Patches

I finished him on the evening of my last post. My plan is to make the patchwork wreath and stocking to go with Santa. but decided that I needed to work on Abigail's birth sampler so here is what I have been working on the last couple of days.

This picture was as of
Oct 5 2012

And this is as of last night
The baby has a face and hair.
I will continue to work on the birth sampler for a couple more days or until I feel I need to do something else for a while. But I would like to get as much done on this as possible this week because next week I am going to Tacoma WA from Monday to Friday to visit my sister. Not sure how much stitching I will get done while I am there. But I think I will be taking small projects to work on with me.

This past week end I had 3 special little girls at my house for the whole weekend. The two little ones (they are 5 & 6) love to draw and color so they keep themselves entertained but Kyla is 11 and is at that in between stage. She was looking through my cross stitch magazine and found a small ship she wanted to do. (it was in the new Cross Stitch Gold magazine that I just got) So I got her a piece of Aida and 3 of the colors she would need (not figuring that she would finish it this weekend). That was Saturday night, Sunday morning she ask for the other colors she needed to finish her ship. Before she left to go home to Iowa she had finished her little project. While she was packing her stuff up and loading it into the car I ran up stairs and found a little frame and snapped it in. She loved it !!!! Well guess what in all the excitement of her packing and them getting ready to leave we did not get a picture. But she promised to send me one.

Everyone have a great week!

First Snow of the Season

Well we got our first snow of the season. It was only about 2 inches and now at 3:00 pm its about half melted away. These pictures were taken at about 6:30 this morning.

In my last blog I stated that I hadn't stitched for a couple of days, well it was more like 4 days that I didn't stitch but I am back at it again. I worked on Abigail's birth announcement for a couple of nights. Forgot to take a picture of it, so I will up date that in my next post.

I did start something new (shocker) I was reading a blog and they were talking about a leisure arts leaflet from years and years ago. It was called Christmas Patches

This patchwork santa caught my interest ( I really like cross stitching Santas) and I went looking through my stash and found that I had that leaflet. I really wanted to do the big patchwork Santa but knew I wouldn't finish it so I settled on the medium Santa. All I have left is the back stitching.

This Santa is only about 5 inches tall so I will finish him as an ornament. And I got my patchwork fix for the moment. It took me longer that I though it would because I had to keep changing colors all the time. I should have him finished up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Well I better go get supper started - first I have to think of something to make?

I hope everone is having a great week so far!

My Late TUSAL

Good Morning everyone!
I am a couple days late in posting my TUSAL, but here it is.

I have not done any stitching in the last two days, ya I know I can't believe it either.
I am playing catch up here on the homefront after being gone for 4 days. There is a good chance that I will be sitting and doing some stitching today, on what I am not sure at this point.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

The 40ct material was getting to me so I decide to work on BoaF for awhile and this is my progress.
As of July 8, 2012

as of Oct 14, 2012
I kinda feel like I should have gotten more stitching done but I also  got a lot of reading done, took a nap every afternoon so I could stay up late at night with the big girls (actually the younger ones) and there was a lot of talking, laughing, checking out what everyone else is working on. And ofcourse we can't forget lots of snacking. It was a great weekend and now back at home to get caught back up on the laundry & cleaning that didn't get done while I was gone.

Have a great week everyone

Something New!

I figured I would do a quick blog this morning,
I need to show you what I got on Saturday in the mail.
I found this on ebay and could not resist it!
my other scissor frog was small and couldn't hold any more scissors.
This one matches the dishes that I collect.
Love, Love Love it!!!!

The other thing that I got is - I ordered the pattern
Home of a Needleworker from LHN.
I have seen a number of other bloggers that have done this
one and thought it would look lovely in my living room.

This morning I am going to be running errands and picking up last minute things for our stitching retreat.
Tomorrow will be spent packing and organizing my stuff to take with me and Wednesday morning making treats to take with me.

Saturday I never picked up my stitching we were busy and on the go most of the day.
First I went to my grandson's last football game. They won Ya C-E Hawks.
Then went shopping with DH and DD1. After I got home I did some laundry and took a short nap. Then in the evening we went to my nephew's 30th birthday party and visit with some great friends and relatives.

Sunday was spent at home. Playing on the computer, managed to get a few loads of laundry done  and then did some stitching, then some frogging and restitching. but I managed to get some done on my harvest towel that I am working on. I was hoping to have it completed before I left for retreat but not sure that will happen. We will see. No picture at this time sorry.

Have a great week everyone

I Just Love Fall !!!!!!

Good Morning Fellow Bloggers!
And Welcome to my  New Followers!

Oh this is my favorite time of year! Cool in the mornings and 60's in the afternoon. Love it!

Not a lot going on around here this week, just still working on getting my car in good running condition. Its a 10 year old car (buick park ave) and I hate to get rid of it but, its starting to cost us money! I love the smooth ride and the roomyness (is that a real word?) I guess I will keep it a little longer and see what happens.

5 days until I live for our weekend stitching retreat in Lake Shetek in MN. It is always so much fun visiting with the ladies. This year will be different for me because I have always taken either my daughters or my niece or both with me to retreat. This year it will be just me driving up there to visit with the 39 other attendees. Can't wait! I have been trying to decide what I want to take with me to work on. I may end up taking a couple of my CJC 2012 projects with me and working on them.

Since my last update on Sunday I have gotten quite a bit of stitching done.
I worked on Abigails baby Sampler and here is my progress.
Sorry about the picture being so light I tried all different way to it it show up better but they all turn out this way kinda washed out look. The pink and purple are quite bright in person. And some of the light blue that I have done doesn't even show up.
I have put about 1120 stitches into it since Chrissy gave it to me to work on for her.

Like most of you I can't seem to work on one thing at a time. The other day I was looking at my Crazy January Challenge 2012 list and realized that I have not got that many completed yet. Out of 15 new starts in January I have only completed 4, and 1 that is 3/4 done. So I decided that I need towork on some of them for a while so I pick out one for the season. Its called Harvest Hand Towel.

This is what it will look like when finished!
106 Stitches completed on 1/15/2012
This was as of yesterday afternoon and I have added
more stitches to it last evening.
Total of 1002 stitches in the last 3 days.
Well that is about it for me today.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Happy Stitching
Denise
