Christmas Is Over

It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted a blog
so I decided it was time to get caught up.
I have tried to keep up on the reading of blogs but I
got a little behind on that also.
Right before Christmas I was busy getting some last minute
Stitching done.
Last year I wanted these stockings done, but never got
around to it. And I got the last one stitched on
on Christmas Eve this year. The girls all picked out there own
color they wanted.

The other project that I was working on was
pillow cases for each of the grandkids.
I should have said 6 grandkids and 1 son
Trey & Gavin got John Deere pillow cases
Kyla got butterflies
Kacee got princess
Kynzie got Tinkerbell
Sharlee got Minnie Mouse
and my son TJ got a Farmall pillow case
they all loved them.

Then I started a bread cover for the New Year
Isn't this just the cutest!
This was a little bit fussy with lots of half stitches
but I had fun spending a couple of evenings
stitching it.

And now that Christmas is over and the house
is cleaned back up I started stitching again on my Santa that
I had planned to have done by now. HaHa. It looks like it will be
for next year.
I have added the green section since I last took a
picture of this Santa. I will continue to work on him
until January 1st when I will be starting the
2012 Crazy Challenge. I will be doing 15 new starts and
will make a list of my WIP's (I think there are about 10 of them)
and work on finishing them up also.

Here are some pictures from Christmas Day here on our farm.
Kacee with her princess bank

Gavin was picking up the wrapping paper

Trey got the Cowboy Hat that he wanted

Kacee and Kynzie playing with their new paper dolls

My oldest daughter Jill and her daughter Sharlee

Daughter #2 Kay and her boyfriend Travis
and Kynzie stuck her head in at the last minute.
Silly girl!

And the little girls relaxing and watching Minnie Mouse

Well that just about does it for now.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, I know that I did!
And I look forward too all the great stitching in the
New Year.

7 Days until Christmas

Can you believe this weather?
Here in South Dakota we usually always have snow
on the ground at Christmas time. I took a picture of
our outside thermometer and as you can see its
52 degrees in the shade. No snow is going to make it
around here today. And the 7 day forcast -
NO SNOW in sight!

OK I know that I have not posted anything for awhile
I think since the 9th of Dec. and I don't have any
stitching to show at this time. I have been working on
the grandkids stocking and when they are completed I will
post a picture of them.

I did get a very part time job working at the
Madison Livestock Auction Barn.
I get to sit beside the Auctioneer and
enter info into the computer and weight
the animals as they come in. I will be working
every Monday 8:30 am until they are done selling
usually about 6:00pm (long day)
And they have sales on Saturday during the winter
noon till about 4:00 (short day).
Boy do I come home smelling bad!
Oh well its easy work.

This next week will be busy, I still have a few gifts to pick up,
about half of the wrapping to do, 6 pillow cases to make, and
finish up the names on the Stockings. I am going to have
to put my time management to good use.

Not sure if I will be back to post again before
Christmas so if I don't get back I hope everyone has a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Happy Stitching

Christmas Stuff

I got my tree up last weekend and finally got a picture of it
Sorry I forgot to turn the lights on before I took the picture.
the following few pics are some ornaments that
I made many years ago.
I believe that this fan and this boot were from
Creative Circle when they were in business.

Also made many years ago and I think it came out
of a craft magazine

These next ornaments were made the year
My son when into the Army

This last ornament is one that I just made
this year
I took a clear Christmas Ball and stuffed all my
orts and ends from this year inside and labeled
it with the year.

No pictures of stitchie stuff, maybe tomorrow
I am working on another snowman
ornament and I'm just about done with it.

Thats about all for now.
Happy Stitching

Another Christmas ornament done!

Candy Cane by Madame la Fee
32 ct Cafe Mocha
Dmc Floss

I actually finished stitching this one on Wednesday night
and framed it last night. It is now hanging on my tree.
Last night as I finished this one up I decided to put a little
project together and here it is
I found this block at Lowes and bought some
pink & green ornament (little ones),
some pink & green ribbon and
a small string of white lights.
I have it sitting on my kitchen counter.
I just love it! and they are so easy to put together.

Last night I sat and stitched on names for the
grandkids stockings that I hang up for them. I had two done,
Trey & Gavins have been done since they were born, Sharlee needs her
name stitched and I have to do Kay's three adopted girls names stitched
on there stockings. This shouldn't take to long to get them done.
1 name done 3 to go.
Will post pics when I have them completed

Well I am off to finish the last of my Christmas decorating
and then I have to do some errands for my DH and DS.
Hopfully I will get some stitching time in today.
We will see?

Happy Stitching Everyone

My Thanksgiving Week

Just a quick post before my granddaughter gets here to spend the day.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving! Our meal was on Friday
So the girls could go to there in-laws for the
Thanksgiving day.
Thursday night we left to start shopping for black friday.
we started at walmart and went to Target & Kohl.
The lines were long (45 min wait)but I did get some
good deals and a lot of christmas shopping done!
Our group got home about 3:30, we slept
for a couple of hours and then it was up to get our
Thanksgiving dinner going.

This was the second time that I went Black friday shopping
but I think the girls are going to leave me home next time.
They seem to think I slow them down a little.
It really is not my cup of tea, with the crowds and all.
so it might have been my last.

After our fabulous meal and a short nap, my oldest
Daughter decided we had not shopped enough so back to
Sioux Falls we went this time we went to Hobby Lobby
& Joanne Fabrics. Now this is my kind of shopping.
I got fabric to make fun pillow cases for each of my
6 grandchildren. and stocked up on DMC floss and needles
(the gold plated ones)

I got my tree up and decorated and now I have to go
thru more boxes of decorations to hang and set around the house.
I just love this time of year.

I have not finish finished anything lately but I have some things  to show:
First up is a small christmas ornament, I have showed
the first 3 to this set in a previous post. They are small
but I don't know that I will get all 12 done by Christmas
We will see how things go.
Next Up
I got the blue and white done on Santas beard .
And then I just had to start a new one.
This one is a freebie that I saw on a blog,
This one is almost done just have some of the
candy cane to finish up. I will post where you can
find this pattern when I do my next post as this one
should be done by then.

My granddaughter is here and watching Minne Mouse already.

I just have to share a few more pics of my family:
these were taken on Friday after we ate.
My Husband Terry and 2 of our granddaughters.

My son TJ giving another granddaughter a ride.

and our youngest grandson riding his 3 wheeler.
They all had a blast.

Oh and I forgot this picture
These 3 spent Wednesday before Thanksgiving with me and
they decided they needed a fort in my living room.
They had the dinning room chairs, the couch cushions and
every blanket they could find.

Well I better get to finishing my christmas decorating and spending
some time with the little one here.
Happy Stitching!

I finished my Biscornu

yes I did I finished it up this weekend
And I can honestly say I did not enjoy
sewing it together.
The corners and making sure
it was centered
But now I can say I made one.
Heres another view of it

I signed up for the 2012 Crazy Challenge and
one of the 15 projects I have listed is a
15 sided Biscornu,
well lets just say I am rethinking that one
I have until January 1 to change my mind.

I finished a couple more
Christmas ornaments
Just little little ones.
As you can see by the quarter laying there
they are pretty little but oh so cute and
easy to stitch up

Last night I decided I was going to work on a
WIP
So I started digging thru my stuff and
found this Santa picture that I
started in June
the only stitching I got done on it
last night was that little bit of blue
by my glasses,
I am not sure if it will be done by Christmas,
but I am going to give it a try!
Here is what it will look like when completed

Well I am off to get some errands done and some
shopping done for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving dinner will be on Friday
for us this year.
My daughters are spending Thursday with
there in-laws and so as to not make it
a busy day we decided to have ours on
Friday and they could spend the whole day
with us!!!!
I am so Thankful for my loving children and
grandchildren!

Happy Thankgiving everyone
Denise

Good Morning

OK Time for an update on my blog.
It's not because I have not been stitching
Because I have been doing plenty of that
its that procrastion thing.
I try and read blogs every morning so that
I can keep up. Then I have to play a
couple of games on facebook and check
my emails. And then I check the time
and my morning is shot.
And I think I will update the blog later or
 even tomorrow.
Well I decided before I read any blogs this morning
I had to do this first.
So Here Goes Nothing!

Weekend before last my daughter and her 3 girls
came and spent some time with us
(they also brought the stomach flu with them thanks girls)
so Monday and Tuesday DH had it
and I had it Wed - Friday
(ya me, this getting old sucks)
Thank goodness I was feeling better for the
weekend because my niece came home for
a visit ( and it was her mothers birthday)
I didn't get to visit with her as much as I would
have liked but I had to play nice a share her
with every one else that want  to see her.
(Love you Chrissy)

Monday was a sad day! Had a funeral to attend.
A highschool class mate and close friend to our
oldest daughter was killed in a auto accident.
he was 31 and left a wife of less than 6 months and
a 1 year son that he adored.( RIP Gary )

Tuesday was a happier day as I got to spend it
with none other than my
Granddaughter.
And too many stories on how she made me laugh all day!

on to the stitchie stuff.
This is another Mini cross stitch ornament
from Liesure Arts
stitched on 14 ct white aida
with DMC floss
and I finish the back with white felt

this was a freebie I found when I was
looking around the blogs.
All the information was in a different
language except for the DMC colors I needed
The orginal design was not back stitched
but i thought it made my snowman stand out more.

And last but not least I am still working on
stitching up my Biscornu.
I will complete this one before I start another
christmas ornament!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This material is actually white not blue as the
picture looks ( damn lighting)
Not much left if I would just sit and stitch on it!
And I am planning on having it completed
tonight! I am thinking I will add a few beads
to this one.
Ok well if I want to get some stitching done I
better get this posted, do some reading of my
blogs and maybe a couple of loads of laundry done.
Enjoy the rest of the week
Happy Stitching
Denise

I had a Great Weekend

I had the best weekend ever!
My girls were home,
My oldest daughter only lives 10 miles from us
but my middle daughter lives 2 hours away,
so her and her 3 girls stayed with us
Friday and Saturday night.

Friday night we had wine and
Tastefully Simply Beer Bread
and 4 different dips
(the kids got orange juice & sprite mixed together)
they thought that was great until I ran out.

Saturday I made a big pot of Chili and
a pot of Country Chicken Chowder for
everyone to enjoy when they got hungry.
The girls took lots of pictures of there kids on the farm.

On to some Stitchy stuff:
Friday I finished a LK that I have been working on for a while.

I stitched it on 32 ct but don't remember the name of it
and used the floss that it called for.
Now I need to decided if I am going to put it in
a frame or make it into a pillow.

Then I also finished a Christmas ornament
Ornament #2
This is for the Christmas Ornament Challenge that I joined.
This one came from a book called
Leisure Arts - Mini Cross Stitch Ornaments
produced by Kooler Designs Studio
There are 116 designs in this book.
I Finished this little cutie with white felt on the back

And I put a few more stitches in my
Norwegian Biscornu

So there you have it,
A bunch of stitching done
a great weekend with family
what more could a girl ask for!

Happy Stitching
Denise

Good morning everyone!
Last night I finished another
Christmas ornament
Designer: Log Cabin Needleworks (freebie)
I used a piece of 32 ct linen from my stash
and used DMC floss
I plan on finishing it like I did
Merry Christmas ornament that I
did in August.
(You can see it on my side bar.)

After I finished this one last night I then
decided that I needed to finish up
LK  Wanted - Santa
All I have left is a few of the words
Then I will post a final picture of it.

I have my Granddaughter here now
and she is demanding my attention at
the moment.
She has her coat on upside down and
wants to go out side to see the cows.
Time to go
Happy Stitching

Oh for the Love of Stitching

Didn't know what else to use as a title???

A quick post this morning before things get busy here on the farm. We were flood out of our house last spring as most of you know. We had water almost to our rafters in our basement. Thank goodness we just have a cement basement and the only things down there are the furnance and water pressure system. Well after the water was gone we relaced the pressure system so we could have running water but never got the furnace replaced. Finally after a month of heating our house with one Eden Pure electric heater our furnace is being replace today!YA!

In my last post I said I was going to start a Biscornu and I did get it started (sorry no picture of my progress yet). In one of the comments (Sarah) asked which one I was doing. Well I got it from World of BIscornu ( here). I am using DMC verigated blue to stitch it in. I have about half of it done.  I have a lot of Norwegian in me and I have relatives that live there and I have visited Norway in 1993. ( would love to make another trip there). So I thought it fitting to stitch the one from Norway. There are actually several Norwegian patterns on this site but I liked the one with the reindeer on it best.

The reason I am not done with it is because I had to start another piece that I came across it also is a freebie. ( I think i need to stop looking at everyones blogs and seeing such cute stuff) I had seen it on someone elses blog who had stitched it up. But it is one of Brenda Gervais from With Thy Needle and Thread blog ( here ) I started it yesterday and have the pumpkin, stem and leaves done and I am starting on the black bird this morning. ( sorry again no picture yet ) I used a piece of 32 ct fabric that I had in my stash and used the DMC floss that she recommends.

Time to get my chores done so I can sit and stitch the day away. I will post some pictures tomorrow so drop back by.

Have a great Holloween weekend
Denise

Hot Chocolate anyone?

I have a stitching finish to show

This was a freebie and I don't remember how I
found it but you can get the pattern (here)
I stitched it on 18 count aida cloth
and used DMC colors
938 for the dark brown
434 for the light brown
712 for the mild cream

I think I will be hanging it in my kitchen
on the wall with these two pictures
that I stitched up a while ago.
Sorry about the glare, they are hanging in my
kitchen and the sun was shining this morning.

Well not much is going on around here lately.
I have weaned all my baby bottle calves,
so no chores for me until we start buying more.

Trying to get some of my family history done,
but that is slow going right now.

I think it time to start a new
project.
I am going to make a biscornu
this will be my first,
WISH ME LUCK!

We are having beautiful weather here today
I think that I will be sitting on my deck
with my new project in hand.
Have a great week everyone.
and
Happy Stitching
Denise

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
