A Finish, New Stash,& Calves (picture heavy)

Good morning everyone! Spring still has not come to us here in SD. We still have snow on the ground, not much but some and guess what? Yep 3-6 inches is on its way later this morning, some of SD is already getting it now.

I have another finish too show you!
Poinsettia House by LHN
28ct Lt Examplair Linen
Called for Crescent Colours
Started 11/24/12
Finished 4/19/13
After I finished this piece I pulled out Blooming with Inspiration by BRD, this is the WIP that I was suppose to work on this month. Here is a picture of my progress as of last night.
I am working this one on 40ct Wisteria hand dyed fabric and using the recommended WDW.

I also enhanced my stash this past week, I went a little crazy and ordered from 123 Stitch. Here is what I purchased.

Can't wait to start this one!

I need these like I need a hole in my head , I know I know. Into my stash they go.

In my last post I mentioned that we have calves being born and Catherine wanted me to post some pictures of our new born calves  so here are a couple of pictures I took of them.

Last but not least we had a small get together at the shop this past weekend. My SIL fried up some mountain oysters and deer chislic. He did an awesome job!

Me and my oldest grand son Trey

Brotherly Love
My grandson's Trey & Gavin.
Well its time to get some house work done so I can sit for a few hours this afternoon and stitch.
I hope everyone has a great week!

Where did SPRING go!

Good morning everyone and welcome to my new followers!
We started seeing the signs of spring - the grass was starting to green up, buds on the trees and then this happened :(
10 inches of the white stuff, some places got an inch of ice before the snow came. We got some ice but not an inch. We didn't loose any trees or power to the house. Some people have been out of power for 3 days.
And of course it never fails when it storms in the spring the cows start calving. Thank goodness we only had one cow that calved during storm. Lucky us.

Now for stitchy stuff!
I have been stitching more this past week. This is what I have been working on. I started it in January and then set it aside. I had the house just about done and the snow done. the rest I have accomplished this week.

Poinsettia House by LHN

Quick up date on Honey, she is all healed up and as active as ever, but this worry wart mom still kinda keeps a watchful eye on her.

Well this post is short and sweet. I an now off to get some stitching done, because I have Sharlee my granddaughter this afternoon, so not much stitching while she is here.

Catching up

OMG where do I begin!
I have not posted a blog since the 20th of March.
It has to be LPS ( Lazy Posting Syndrome) (read this syndrome on Shirlee's blog The Easily Influenced Stitcher)
I think I spend too much time on the computer (reading blogs, Pinterest, face book, and all my emails)
It seems there is always things that come up to get in the way of my stitching.
In Feb. I had done 4183 stitches, in March I only managed to accomplish 2436 stitches. And the month of April is starting out kinda slow also. Hopefully it will pick up before the end of the month.
The only thing that I have stitched on since the 20th is Blooming with Inspiration
the last time I updated the boarder was all that I had done,
so now the tree is done and I have to put some flowers the
grass and I will be able to start another section.
Over the Easter weekend my Son and his girlfriend came out and I took there engagement pictures for them.
They have set the big day for July 13, 2013, they got engaged at Christmas time. She has her dress and alot of the arrangements are already made. She is very organized.

I finally decided it was time to take some weight off , so after some looking around and searching on the web I decided to go with Ideal Protein. Yesterday I went in and had my first meeting with Dr. Chris, he explained the program to me and sent me home with all the stuff that I needed for my first week. So the weight loss started this morning. The tuff part of this diet is that I can have NO diet coke, actually no soda pop at all. But I am determined to make this work. So I will keep you informed on how it is going. I know a lot of you are also tring to loose weight like I am and what a struggle it is.

One last update is that Honey is doing awesome, she is no longer in a cast or have the cone of shame and is able to go outside and play a little. We still has to be careful with her so she doesn't rebreak the  bones, but she is enjoying the outside again.

Another cold morning

Good Morning everyone and welcome to my new followers!
Love to see new bloggers!

Its cold outside but not snowing (yet) Will spring ever get here!

Quick update on Honey, she is doing very good on the healing of her two broken legs. And she is letting me know she is feeling better every day. She is getting quite tired of being in her kennel all the time and when she does get out she totally goes wild on me. She wants to run and jump but the doctor said not until after 4 weeks of healing. We have gone through 2 Cones of Shame  because she has been chewing on them. I have given her chew toys and bones but she wants that thing off so she can chew her cast off!
Thank you for all your comments and hugs for Honey they were greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I stopped at Micheal's and pick up my Birds of a Feather that I had frame there and it turn out great! Have a look.
Had to take the picture at an angle so I wouldn't get
the flash in the picture.
And the next update I have is of
Abigail's Birth Sampler
Sorry about the wrinkles, I am so close to being finished that I want to wait until I am done before I give it a good press. I need to back stitch the toys on the bottom of the picture and the Giraffe's head and Abigail's name, date and weight. Don't thing it will be done by this week end when Chrissy and her family come to visit but it will be close.

This will be a short and sweet post because I need to get off this computer and get to work on my taxes, I would like to get them turned in by this Friday. I have them almost done but have been procrastinating  on getting them finished up.
So until next time

Blogger :(

Oh my gosh why can't they leave things alone!
I like to think I am pretty good on a computer and not afraid to try new things,
but this has me stump! I signed up for Bloglovin like others have but I can't get my blog to move over for some reason. I followed the directions and nothing.
I may just keep using blogger  until July and when they shut down I will quite blogging. But then I will miss out on a lot of good reading and support. So I have some time to get this figured out.
What to do, What to do!
I hope everyone else gets it figured out!

Update on Honey

Thank you everyone for all the get well wishes for Honey. I really appreciate them!

Well it's been just over 2 weeks since Honey was hit by a car. We have a daily routine of going outside to potty 4 -5 times and a snack each time she comes in. We have to wrap her front cast in plastic so that it does not get wet while we are out in the snow, then take it off when we come back inside. She can only go out side on a leash but she would love to run and play with our other dog and her companion. I hold her back and make her walk so she doesn't slip and  re break her legs. The last 2 days she has been restless and decided to chew on her cone of shame, Guess what else she decided to chew on. Yep you guessed it!

She had chewed a nice big hole in her wrap, so the vet said to bring her in and they re wrap it and we got another cone for her. So we will see how long this one lasts. ( she even has her chew toys in the kennel with her) The Vet told me she healing nicely and no signs of infections or rubbing sores. She does have some itching where her hair is growing back on her back leg but that is to be expected.

The final thing the Vet said was they would like to see her in this new cast for another 2 weeks. So 2 more weeks with a dog that has spent most of her life outside on the farm running around, and now she has to be  in a kennel in side the house.(except for potty breaks) The trip to the vet must have taken a lot out of her because she is now napping quietly.

I worked on Abigails birth sampler last night and some this morning but this after noon I decided to work on some quilt squares that I started some time ago. More on the both of them later in the week.

Have a great rest of the week
and

My Poor Honey

Oh my goodness I have not blogged since the 24th of February. I have thought about posting several times and never sat down to the computer. I have been busy the last couple of weeks with taking care of one of my furbabies. Honey got hit by a car and ended up with 2 broken legs.
Honey  my 10 month old Red Heeler
This picture was taken on friday March 1st when I picked her up from the vets office. The front leg had a small fracture and  both bones in her back leg were broken and one of the bones was broken in 4 pieces and required a steel plate put in. She is doing awesome and healing quickly. We still have to keep her quite for a couple more weeks to make sure she heals properly.

On the stitching front I have been working on finishing up Abigail's birth sampler. I will post an updated photo in my next post or when I get it finish it up, which ever comes first.

Well not much else going on around here just a little work at the Post Office, a little bit of dog sitting for my brother, a little bit of cleaning the house (I should do more but maybe later) and I lot of waiting on Honey, and a little reading of other blogs so I am off to get caught up on the reading.

Spring is coming!!!!

Time for an update

We got snow yesterday and today its foggy out
It's been a little over 2 weeks since I last posted and I have done a lot of stitching, a little genealogy, a little work at the post office, and a little partying.
The calender that I keep track of when and what I stitch is full of stitching days. Since the first of February I have only not stitched 5 days. Pretty good for me.
The first 3 days I missed I was getting ready for DH's shop party

On the 18th and 19th I got absorbed in my genealogy searches. I put the genealogy away because I knew I was close to another finish. And so here is my second finish of the year.

Birds of a Feather  by
Brenda Gervais - With thy Needle and Thread
35 count WDW linen - Confederate gray
and the called for  WDW threads
Started in July 2011
Finished Feb. 22, 2013

Now to get it framed and hung up. I truly love the colors in this piece. So with the finish of this piece for the next week I will be working on Abigails birth sample. I would love to get this one done before the middle of March because that is when my niece and Abigail will be home for a short stay and I can give it to her then. I got it out and started working on it this morning.

Last week end we had a shop party at DH's new shop. Everyone had a great time! A friend of ours grilled brisket and pork loins on the grill for us and it was delish! And we didn't have much for left overs.

It was 3 in the morning before we all got to bed and Sunday was mostly resting!

Well that's about all for now. I have to go and get ready to go to the school and watch my grandsons wresting tournament this afternoon.

Happy Stitching!

My First Finish of 2013

OK everyone I have been reading about every one's finishes and I was feeling a little left out. Since December I have been working on bigger WIP's, so I looked back and saw my last finish was November 16, 2012.
I found a cute little Christmas Stocking on Pinterest. unfortunately the designer was not listed, but here it is.

There was a total of 750 stitches  plus backstitching

It only took me a couple of days to complete. I have not decided if I will finish it as a flat ornament or a stuffed ornament.
Now that I got that fix out of my system I will continue with Birds of a Feather by With thy Needle & Thread. All I have left on it is one and half sides of the boarder. So that should be my second finish this year.

In my last post I show a picture of my calender that I keep track of what I stitch and when I stitch. So far this month I have stitch ever day so far. LOL (it's only been 6 days) We will see how the rest of the month goes. My goal is to stitch everyday this month!
Well I need to read a few more blogs and get some chores done around the house.
Until next time
Happy Stitching

January Gone

Good Evening Everyone!
I am not enjoying all this cold weather, and walking around the farm is no fun either with all this ice.
Knock on wood, I have not fallen yet. The other thing that I can knock on wood about is that I have not caught a cold or the flu that is going around. The grand kids and DH are all getting over it now.

In January I decided to keep track of when I stitched and how many stitches I did.
So this is how I did.
This is the book that I have kept track  in.
Where you see the line drawn through the day are the
days that I did not do any stitching.
15 days of no stitching so that leaves 16 stitching day for the month. Of course my goal is to stitch some every day, but that doesn't always happen.

The 3 pieces that I worked on during January are:

Abigails Birth Sampler
I put 1152 stitches and a whole bunch of backstitching

Poinsettia House
620 stitches
Finished the roof and started the boarder on top.

And the new piece that I started
Green Quaker Sampler
1803 stitches

So for the Month of February I will be mainly working on
Birds of the Feather by
With Thy Needle and Thread
As you can see I don't have a lot left on this one, just finish the alphabet and the boarder.
So this just might me my first finish of 2013. And then it will be back to working on Abigail's birth sampler.
I do intend to get some of my WIP's done up this year and a few more Christmas ornament for my tree.

Its time to get some supper on the table so I will be leaving you with a cute picture of  my granddaughter. She is here for a little while this evening.

Happy Stitching
and stay warm

New Start

Good morning everyone!
Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post about Abigail's birth sampler.
I kinda got tired of working on this piece and was in the mood for something new and different than  what I have been working on lately. On pinterest I found a free pattern called Green Quaker Sampler. I went   to my stash and found the 16 count fabric that it called for (there's was white, all I had was antique white) I am using some DMC and some Gentle Arts. I have not worked on aida in a very long time. Not so hard on the eyes. Started this on Jan 21,2013 and here is my progress as of last night.
So far I have just done the cross stitching, but there is also a number of other stitches to be added to this piece.
They are Algerian Eyelet, Rhodes, Smyrna Cross, Rice, Ray, and Upright cross. Should be pretty cool when done. I started stitching this piece without the Q-Snap but my left shoulder started hurting, I think I was tensing up while holding it. Now with the Q-Snap no more pain. Funny how that works.

Well I better get dressed and go out to feed my baby calf , chickens and the spoiled dogs. Then its off to town and get my glasses fixed and get my nails done. ( and the spoiled dogs need some treats)

Stay Warm!

Reading, Reading, & Stitching

I got behind in my blog reading again and so I have been playing catch up the last couple of days. A lot of bloggers are joining in on the Build your Blog. I have truly enjoyed reading and learning more about my fellow bloggers.

I am still working on Abigails Birth Sampler and have made some good progress since my last up date.
I have a train and a teddy bear to stitch by his front legs and then I will complete his head and Abigails birth details.

I am going to make this update short and sweet because I want to get back to my stitching.
Everyone stay warm during this awful cold spell we are having.
Happy Stitching

Burrrr it cold out!

Good morning everyone! And welcome to my new followers.
I now have 150 followers. The past couple of years posting and following other blogger has been so interesting. Seeing what everyone one is stitching , what there taste in stitching is, and a little about there personal life.

Anyway I have an update on Abigails birth sampler for you.

The baby giraffe now has a butt and tail. I decided to do some backstitching as I go so that when I took pictures you could see a little more defination in the stitching because the bllue is so light you can hardly see it. I have not been able to do any stitching for the last couple of days but the weekend is here and I do plan to get more done.

Well I have to get ready to go to work for a couple of hours at the Post Office, then it's home and vegging out with my stitching.

Goals for 2013 & more

Good morning fellow bloggers. The sun is shining and it suppose to be really nice today. Which means that some of the snow might be melting here.

I have decided to work on my WIP's & UFO's this year. And I also plan to do a few small projects also, such as Christmas ornaments.

This is the plan for now:

January - Abigail Birth Sampler
February - BoaF, With Thy Needle & Thread
March- Blooming with Inspiration, Blue Ribbon Design
April - We Three Kings, Glendon Place
May - The Embroiderer, Paula Vaughan
June - Spirit of Christmas Santa Christmas Stocking
July - Woodland enchantress
August - Sweet Cake, Erica Michaels
September - 15 sided Biscornu
October - The Best Things
November - Blessed are the Needleworkers
December -  Petticoat Heart.

I am hoping to get a few of these completed this year, some are real close.
Now for some progress pictures.
During the month of December I didn't get much stitching done , here is what I worked on.
( Well I wanted to get this posted this morning but I will have to finish it after I get off work at 2:00 and hopefully I can figure out how to download my pictures, it seems they change stuff on us again)
We Three Kings by
Glendon Place
And this is what I stitched in December
I used the called for fabric and threads
I also kept track of how many stitches I have done,
2452 stitches

And so for the month of January I will be working on Abigail's Birth Sampler. The last time I worked on in it was the end of November and this is what it looked like then.

And here is what I done so far since the first of  January
I tried and tried to get a picture that showed what
I had gotten done. If you look really close there is some blue on the right side, the
yellow flowers on the left side and some back stitching around the baby.

This last picture is of my step granddaughter, Kyla. This is her second piece that she has completed.
The thread she used for this project was part of her Christmas present from me.
She plans to give this to her friend at school.

Well I started this post this morning about 8:00 and finally figured out how to download my pictures.
I think there was more that I wanted to post about but now I can't remember. So I will close now so I can go and get some stitching in this evening.

Happy Stitching

Busy, Busy,Busy

Good morning everyone in blog land!
I hope everyone enjoyed the last couple weeks of holidays, family gatherings and ringing in the new year.
We ( DH and I ) had a quite New Years eve. We went to the local bar and had a few drinks with a 2 other couples and was home about 9:00 and in bed by 10:30. So much for ringing in the new year for us.

Well we are empty nesters again. Our middle daughter moved back home with us last August after a bad breakup. We were glad to have her back in our area and too spend some time with her. But at 30 years old she just needed her own space and found a cute little 2 bedroom apartment that she could afford to rent. So this last week end was spent moving all her stuff out. And now Mom & Dad have a little more space also. Yesterday I spent the day cleaning her old room out and packing up the stuff she left behind and haul it over to her apartment. It was not a lot of stuff but I wanted her to decide if she wanted it or not, she can throw it away herself. And the funny part was as I was cleaning I found I had tuck in a corner of the room a scroll with a Paula Vaughan picture that I had started about 10  years ago and I had been looking high and low for it and could not figure out what I had done with it.This will go on my to do list to finish it this year. More on the picture in a later post.

I have decided this year instead of starting 15 new projects for CJC2013 I will doing CJCWIP 2013. As you can see on my side bar I did not complete all of my challenge from last year so they will be worked on and finished this year. Plus a few other WIP that I show you in past posts. (Here) Plus others that I come across. I was not organized at the end of last year and made a list of what I plan to work on this year because I didn't plan to join in until I saw the had the CJC WIP group and thought this would be perfect to get some projects finished up. So I will be working on a list today and posting it later.

Time to run some errands and some laundry done.
I wish everyone a Blessed New Year!
Happy Stitching

We Three Kings

This is a quick post to ask if any one out there has stitched We Three Kings by Glendon Place. I have the pattern, material, DMC floss and beads all kitted up. Now the question is did you stitch all the DMC first then go back and stitch the Kreinik or would it be OK to use the Kreinik as you are stitching the DMC colors. I have never done a project this large with so much Kreinik thread and beads and I am just looking for some advice before I get started on it.

Sorry I don't have any updates to show, I figured I have only stitched a little over a thousand stitches the whole month of Dec so far. Not so good when I usually do about 300-400 every day normally

I have over 300 blogs to read and get caught up on, so I may be at the computer for a while today.

Hope every one had a great Christmas!
Happy Stitching
Denise.

Final TUSAL for 2012

When I did my last post I forgot about my TUSAL update
so as I was reading and catching up on my blog reading
and see eveeryone elses TUSAL I figured I better get my picture taken and posted.

Most of the colors in my dish are from working on Abigails birth sampler.
The christmas bulb with the 2012 written on it has all of my orts form this year in it
so we start saving again. Here is a picture of all 4 bulbs that I have done.

We went to a craft show last week and the girls had to have these,
Kyla, Kacee, Kynzie modeling there tutu's and
 matching head bands

This picture was also taken at the craft show we attended.
This is me and my bff, we have been friends
since we were in the 3rd grade.
Well it's about time for me to get ready  to go to work at the post office for the afternoon, so until next time
Happy Stitching

Good Morning Everyone! I just got back from having coffee with my daughter. This is something I don't normally get to do because she ...
